Customer Cash Payment

Thanks, I don't care about the legalities. I'm just asking is it standard protocol for a dealer to not let a potential buyer take home the price breakdown spreadsheet they provide? I'm not buying a $40,000+ truck that I cannot see exactly the breakdown of incentives/rebates/etc.

And you did see the breakout. They just refused to let you leave with that piece of paper. Their choice. You could have walked away.
My former salesperson (retired) emailed me everything including the Smart Vincent report. So did the GM of the new dealership I bought our 2018 Fusion Energi from.
A tip I often cite is that people are uncomfortable / unfamiliar with the buying process, they utilize Ford's X-Plan. Advantage of this are a) price is fixed, b) paperwork fee is limited to $100, and c) deal is audited by Ford and they fix any issues found.
There are some that decry using X-Plan, proclaiming they can do better, and even better than A-Plan. That's great. The vast majority of buyers are clueless and would benefit greatly from a locked in price - which is printed on the invoice by the way.

There is no such thing as "standard protocol" with independent businesses. I said that if the dealer you dealt with in 2014 did that to me, I'd say "bye" and walk out.

Because the way the way the report is categorized. i will have to see if I still have mine and post it.
It was one of those "either/or" categories, and there were in the same 'category' on the sheet, but there were multiple options under that section.
like when i got my truck, there was the "customer appreciation cash" of $4200 (which was more of a "global" rebate Ford called it)......but it was also broken down into about 6 other rebates seperatedly. if you financed it was a while different section.
There was also the "VIN SPECIFIC" rebate of $500, which believe it or not, was NOT in every category.
So, this is how it got super confusing. After I got home and analyzed it all, OOPS! I want my $750.
