It will be free. It's easy to do the install. Takes about 20 minutes, but keep the truck running (especially if you have keyless start as the truck will shut off).

If they are going to charge I will try and tackle it but if it will be free I will wait.
Really not wanting to screw up my brand new truck.
It will be free, just the hardware will cost money if you want CarPlay. For those cautious about doing this update, especially the "non-nav" I can confirm it works flawlessly and will not mess up your truck. Download the two files. Format a blank USB stick to FAT32, you will see this option when you right click and hit format. Then UNZIP the "update 1" directly to the USB stick. (Right click and extract all) to the USB stick folder. Turn on your truck, plug in the USB stick and the update will run automatically. Once it starts, you can drive like normal if you need to go somewhere but do not turn off the truck. Takes 15-20 min for the first update. Once complete, shut off the truck completely, open the door so Sync radio turns off. DELETE update 1 on the USB stick, and do the same steps for "update 2". Turn off, restart, and you should be updated.

For those worried about messing up your radio, on my owner.ford.com site, it shows the current 2.2 version as my current version, so Ford recognizes it and will not know how it was updated. If anything goes wrong, you can always do a master reset on the general settings of Sync 3. This will not harm your truck... If you want to wait for Ford to actually release it, feel free, but who knows when that will be.

I just checked my sync history on owner.ford.com and it is still showing Sync 3 v1.1

I guess that it hasn't updated via wifi as I don't sit in my driveway long enough maybe for a connection to be established.

Most likely they downloaded the NAV file and updated...what is so confusing?
Two files, one for nav and one for non-nav

Sorry to add to this confusion, but I'm still unsure..

I've downloaded a file from a Fusion Forum... as directed above, I've unzipped the file to a USB stick...

But now the confusion.... I've read that some members are completing a 2 step update? They are referring to update 1 & update 2. I don't see those files..

There are other members referring to a single step update..

Can you guys clarify this for me.. i don't want to get halfway through the update... then start looking for a sceond file..

After looking at my AA settings on my cell, I found that bluetooth was not enabled for some reason, enabled it in AA and went back to my truck, it found AA and walked me through the setup and it now works great. Thanks for all the work in testing this software and providing it for us.

Do you have Sync 3 with nav or non-nav from factory? If you have non-nav the update needs to be done in two steps (Update 1 and Update 2), it's two files since the onboard memory on non-nav systems is smaller than the USB update. If you only have one file, then you have the navigation version. Look back in this thread for the non-nav version.

Thanks! I have factory Nav.... so, the one step version appears to be correct for me.

Yes, $49/year. You can lock/unlock and remote start. There's also a find mode, that honks the horn and flashes the light.
