Current SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information
I have 2.0 not 2.2, but I can tell you I have this same thing happen. Every once in a while it will jump straight to maps, but rarely. I need to play a little and see if maybe it only jumps to maps when I actually have navigation going or something like that. It's a little annoying, but works fine none the less.
2016 MKC with NAV
When I press the Nav button from the main screen, it just goes to the main AA screen, same if I press the Phone button. I think this is as per design...
Yep this happened to me the first time I tried it.
I was going to wait do do the upgrade until Ford pushed it out...then I said I'd download it anyway just in case....then I read the instructions and said I'll wait.
Then I saw all the successful installs and went for it. I now have AA!
Awesome!

It's still required. BTW, I wouldn't do the upgrade if I were you. There is a warning NOT to apply it to any version other than 1.0 or 1.1 otherwise you will brick your unit. You don't need it anyway, all you need for carplay is the hub since you have 2.0. If you want android auto, you don't need to do anything other than turn it on in settings and plug your android phone in.
Many thanks to jm061 for this. Another successful install here (2016 non nav from v1.0).
Only thing I ran into was that after following all the steps in the readme and connecting the phone, Sync said it was unable to connect to AA. I just had to click through some screens on the phone itself (accept license agreement, etc.) and all was well. AA is awesome, a massive upgrade over Sync. Thanks again!

Another successful install here (non-nav version). Once I figured out how I needed to decompress/expand the files on my mac then transfer over to my thumb drive the install was effortless. Everything is working and I really like the user interface. Its great to finally have maps/nav in my truck.
One note that has nothing to do with the install. I noticed some folks earlier talking about losing weather/temp when connected to 2.2 Carplay. I didn't worry about it because before the 2.2 update I had the AccuWeather app which worked great. Most of us also had Pandora before the update too. I still have Pandora but for some reason the AccuWeather app is no longer an option with 2.2. I hope they bring it back.

Finally got to install it this afternoon ('16, coming from 1.0, w/ NAV). Took somewhere around 20 minutes for the first step. Shut off the car, opened the door, started things back up. Everything was good except for the nav - it kept that spinning "loading" message up the entire ride. Once I recycled the system, nav then loaded just fine!
One good change that I'm already liking is the display of the XM channel number and name across the top bar. With 98.56% confidence I want to say that previously it only displayed "XM Preset 1" or something like that.
Now if the new hub would only come off of backorder so I can play with CarPlay!
BTW, since folks have been asking for other mirrors and apparently didn't see my earlier posts, here they are:
NAV: http://blog.namesbychris.com/v22NAV.zip
Non-NAV: http://blog.namesbychris.com/SYNC3_N..._V1_to_V22.zip
