Truck built 10/9/2017 according to build sheet.......Purchased 12/14/2017. SYNC 3 , Software Version 2.3 Build 17109 Installed. Last Automatic Update 11/22/2017

Ok, I "believe" I have correctly downloaded the file, unzipped it, and loaded it onto my USB.

I take lunch in about 1:45 from now, so I will attempt the actual update then, and I will report back. It says 30 minutes but I have heard others say upwards of 2 hours!?! I am hoping mine is on the shorter side of that scale, but considering this is the first ever update my Sync has ever received, going from 1.0 all the way to 2.3 I have to believe will not be the shortest possible time frame.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this works, and will report back with any other issues or successes!

Clarifying mine said it was installing for over 2 hours but never finished, I'm still stuck on 2.0. I just got off the phone with Ford Sync again and they said the engineers notes say they are still working on the correction and that I should try calling back Monday or Tuesday before trying to download and install again.

I am still about 45 min from lunch, so I am going to give it a whirl... of course I am still on ver 1.0 which make me even more nervous that mine will fail/time out/take well over the 30 minutes it is supposed to take!

 

Are there any release notes available for 3.0 at the moment? Hoping they add some new features along with being able to customize background.

 

What error do you get? I've gone up to the 3.0 unofficials, back down to 2.2 and up to 2.3 at least four times and never have had an error, unless I was using the wrong file. Most of the issues people report are in the non-nav units since they have less memory, but the nav units are rock solid in handling updates.

 

Well, not 100% positive yet, but appears to have worked...

I left my truck running and went into the restaurant to eat... it obviously says do not turn your vehicle off... Well about 50 minutes went by and I went out to go back to work, and it had shut off... (aggrivating and not sure why or how to prevent in the future - but that is a different thread and discussion). However upon starting my truck it did still show the update arrow in the upper right corner.. I went to the bank and left it running again another 20 min or so, came out and it said update complete, and something along the lines of will not be activated until the next time you start your car... so I will verify it when I leave to go home tonight, but at the moment, I am assuming it all went as it was supposed to. I am really hoping it did and excited to see/experience the differences - hopefully this also will correct the issue I was having with the bluetooth audio seemingly cutting out, so I will report back on that end as well.

 

I'm running SYNC3 V3.0 on my 2015 without any issues.. I'm not seeing much of a difference yet though..

** Sidenote. I upgraded my SYNC to SYNC3 on my own. went to the dealer to see if they could update on their side so I could get the updates from the ford site, but they wouldn't touch it. then made a comment that they were shocked it was even running.. anyway.. does anyone have any idea how I can get it updated so it shows on the ford site????
