I want to try this also, I have v2.0 on mine, just got truck this week brand new. How can you check the usb ports version/part# without removing? I am going to do this upgrade tonight...Thanks to all on this forum
If you already have ver2 the only way to check the USB hub without removing it is to see if android auto shows on the screen and once you hook your iPhone up it should start apple carplay. If not then you don't have the correct USB module. It's easy enough to take out. Just try not to force it too much to break anything. I can say it took me 15 minutes of pulling and prying with interior pry tools.
Successful!! Be very careful with the top clip! I ripped the wires and that was a pain in the butt to repair..

I've tried exFAT and FAT32 formatted 32GB flash drive and exFAT 4GB flash drive using the single-part non-nav update file. This is what I get every time. I have Sync 3 ver 1.0.
