Bad news is, it seems to be rather cantankerous. It responded really slowly and/or locked up. When I unplugged the USB cable, Sync stopped responding and did not disable CarPlay. Siri didn't even come close to finding the destination that I tried.
Ford still has some work to do.
I don't believe Ford has anything to do with Siri not finding your destination...

If not
First thing would be to check the Google Apps on your phone to make sure they are up to date.
These are
Google Play Music
Google Maps
Android Auto
I am running a custom ROM. After searching those threads, I saw the solution was to simply uninstall Google Maps, reboot, and reinstall Maps. Works great now, thanks!

So i am totally new to this site. I have a 2016 XLT sport Non nav, my two questions are easy.

1. I have since 3 w/ ver 2.0 and my USB ports are blue

2. Do i need to download 2.2 and do i need new Usb ports? All i care about is CarPlay!

Thank for your help.

Finally got it figured out. Hard Reset on the screen cured the issue. Don't be alarmed if it takes 5 minutes but mine is working fine now.

With upgrade, system appears to be faster than old version

I have the same version and had the blue USB hub. I changed the USB hub and I now have CarPlay with version 2.0 non-nav.

I wasn't explicitly blaming Ford. It almost seems like Siri couldn't hear anything I said when I was trying to give it a verbal destination. It's kind of strange, because I have always had pretty good luck using Siri when I activate it by holding down the Sync button for 1 second.

From my perspective, it would be great if Ford allows you to mix and match with Sync and CarPlay. I prefer for Ford nav but like the CarPlay phone and messaging interfaces.

Kind of frustrating that Ford is a bit behind technology wise when I see the latest Hyundai Elantra ads showing all the tech in those cars, including the remote start watch. But would I trade my 150 for a Hyundai? NFW

If you have CarPlay running and unplug the USB cable, the phone is rejoined to Sync via bluetooth. So you might have had an issue with the phone not connecting via bluetooth. When carplay is running, blue tooth is disabled.

How is the hard reset done? I have the same sit & spin issue.
I tried a master reset - no difference.

Hard reboot is the power button and the next track button together at the same time for 6 seconds. Screen will go black and then you will see the startup logo to confirm.

Welp...ordered the part yesterday. It sure sounds like Ford is starting to push the 2.2 update already, so not sure if i'm going to wait for that or download one.
