The only problem is: Carplay sucks!

I'll be keeping the hub, but using the Sync and siri (no that I figured out it was notifications turned off that was messing up text accessing).

The music app is fine, but google maps sucks for interface as far as I'm concerned. I prefer the 2D map in Sync. Google jerks and has fits trying to keep the map orientated to my direction of travel. It also seems to randomly zoom and move whenever if F'n feels like it. Typical google crap. I also prefer the destination finding in sync. Google maps/siri can't find crap.

With carplay running, I also lost voice control over sirius. Manual tuning only. No more voice commanding like "sirius, 100".

I know some guys love carplay, but I won't be using it. It sucks IMHO. I hate being hemmed into what someone else thinks is the best way. Give me at least some configurable options ferchirstsake! I like having capability to interface with apple devices though, even if I don't use it. Perhaps it will get better or a better apple program will be released for car use.

I popped open the "old" hub. As I suspected, the led's are SMD. I could swap them out for the blue, but it's not worth the trouble and risk of buggering up both untis. White is fine. I keep the compartment closed anyways.

Also, I can't remember if it was in ver 1.0, but I can change the colors of the interior lighting in the truck...
if you are using car play, you are NOT using Google maps. You are using Apple maps, which does indeed suck. Typical apple Crap 😊

I agree CP and AA are not all they are hyped up to be. Clumsily UX interface and integration with the vehicle systems. I had a similarly poor mapping experience with Apple Maps, on a 30 mile trip it showed me at minimum one block over from my actual location and had a terrible time orentiering the map with my direction of travel. Tried both AA & CP for a few weeks each and I'm not a fan. At least it gives options for everyone to use what they like but I'll take the native Sync experience.

You can change the colours of your interior lights? How/Where is that setting found?

Default Maybe Ford won't support CarPlay in 2016?

All this talk about Ford releasing V2.2 and not having stock in USB hubs. I was thinking that they probably won't ever officially support CarPlay in 2016. I am sure that V2.2 is just a "blanket" version upgrade, that supports 2016-2017 and beyond.

Just my thoughts.

Personally I will wait for Ford to release the software and then buy the hardware.

It's in the settings on sync, ambient lighting. You need the option installed on your truck for this to work.

Going by memory, but its under the settings screen, then ambient lighting. I don't remember the button there before ver 2.2, but i also wasn't looking either. This is only day 3 with the truck.

3 shades of blue, orange, red, purple, green, etc.

Just the lighting in the center console, door panels, etc. Dash lights didn't change.

Kinda neat, but I'll probably never use it. I like the stock blue.

Ford has stated in press releases that CarPlay ships on 2017's. So it's officially supported in 2016. Now releasing the update to the wild for all, won't happen this year for the 16's. My is upgraded and I have CarPlay. Done. I would expect when things get officially realeased it maybe 2.3 or 2.4. There must be some massive bug for the. To delay it for everything but select Lincoln's. Wonder if those vehicles have different Apim hardware.
