The upgrade, as I mentioned several pages back, went well with my non-nav 2016 XLT. Awesome and thanks again!

Here's a silly question. Let's say that you have a thumb drive connected to the second USB port on the panel with music and that music is playing/not playing before/during Android Auto. Is there not any way to interface to that port from within AA? For instance, it will play but you lose the track popup and you cannot use voice commands, that I know of, to select a track on it. Is there really no way to access it? Does anyone know if there are plans to more tightly integrate AA in the future into Sync3 so as to be able to access the other hardware? I am aware that you can use the touchscreen to flip back and forth but if you are using the navigation piece, for example, that becomes a little painful.

Regards, Phillip

No issues, everything is still present.

Thing is, in reality when your on Android Auto, your not really connected to sync anymore, it's mirroring the Android Auto app from your phone to the screen.

Was hoping the maps would have been updated. A major Canadian highway which opened two years ago I take daily is missing.
You have the buy the map updates, they are not free.

The site for updates is http://ford.navigation.com

Nothing released yet for the 2016's

Understood. Still a big loss though. Perhaps there's another way to do what I want that I haven't thought of yet.

Using this cable:

Also want to clarify that I'm using the same cable with both hubs and AA works great with the original hub. With the GJ7Z-19A387-B hub AA starts up as soon as I plug in my phone (the AA icon shows on the Ford screen and shows the AA interface) for ~10 seconds. After 10 seconds it just reverts back to the standard Sync interface. I can reproduce this every single time by unplugging and re-plugging the phone back in.

When I reinstall the original hub AA works flawlessly ever single time.

I'm beginning to think that the 1000 Lincoln Sync 1.0 owners may be out of luck getting that upgrade hardware first when we are draining the supply of "white" hubs. (Mine arrived today).

It's quite ridiculous that Ford markets the new tech with over the air updates, yet the updates are best case a year apart (fingers crossed, I haven't seen one yet), and in the end the update has to be done by USB. Marketing this type of tech gives us the impression we will be upgraded at the same pace we expect from our phones, doesn't seem to happen, so we end up trading in for the new tech rather than waiting forever. These guys are good.

Signed someone that traded in a 12 Platinum for a 16 because it was supposed to have CarPlay, according to Ford literature. My bad.

No answer for you but I just updated mine with no complications following the same procedure. No master reset or anything. I just purchased my vehicle 2 days ago.

Perhaps a moderator or somebody can update the first post of this thread to reflect that things are working now and to "start at post number xxx to get it underway"
