Current SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information
If some of you are having issues with the install, try this. Reformat your usb stick to FAT32. Its easy to do. Just plug in your usb stick to your Windows computer, find it, right click and there should be an option to reformat. Takes 30 seconds to do, then add the right files and try again. This is what I had to do to get mine to work.
Greetings remltr,
I took your advice but the problem continues.
It seems like at this point something may have happened with my voice command function. I used to be able to hear my text messages via SYNC when a text message arrived and now I can't. I get the HEAR/VIEW notification but when I press hear nothing happens. Once again SIRI works just fine while connected or disconnected.
I also noticed that I cannot hear the ringtones and text message tones in the phone sound options that were included with SYNC. I can select the tones but I cannot hear them at all. Its almost as if all SYNC voice/sound options are missing. This is very frustrating and I really hope none of you are experiencing these issues as well. Oh and to top it off my album arts do not show up anymore while listening to music from my USB drive.
At this point I dont know what my options are since I have performed about 5 master resets. I should also note that 2.2 does not show up on my owner.ford.com website. It says that I am still running 1.0 even though 2.2 did install. Is there a way to reinstall version 2.2 on my system? If not, is there a way to go back to 1.0?

It appears like the first part of your update did not complete or was corrupt as in your first post, the Gracenote version did not even show up. Gracenote is what powers the voice recognition. I was able to fix the issue by plugging in a flash drive with the first update and letting it finish. After a restart, Gracenote was updated to (GL-0011) and voice worked again. Perhaps try another USB flash drive this time. If you have non-nav like me, then the first part of the update is the largest, about 1.6 GB.
Another successful update here. v1.0 to v2.2 with factory Nav.
Had a little department grill-out at the office, so I let the truck run the update while we were grilling some 20oz porterhouses.
Let it sit while we ate & all looks perfect afterward.
Thanks for the effort to all that had a hand in it.

I'm in Canada, so it may be different for you if in the states.
My understanding is carplay does not show up until a compatible device (IE: iPhone through and authorized USB port) is connected.
Android is a little bit different form what I can gather. Just need 2.0 and a regular old usb...

Voice commands finally work again! I had a 8GB EMTEC USB drive when I did my first install. After talking to artiepen and jm061, I went out and bought a 16GB SanDisk (on sale for $7 at Walgreens) and reinstalled the first update file. I am very pleased with the install and would like to once again thank you both for helping me out.
Also I receieved this email from Bobby at Walt Sweeney Ford Parts:
"As of today there is no update as to the availability of Carplay module you ordered. The message I received is "supplier is past due, working on ETA". I did receive 125 of the GJ7Z-19A387-B modules if you would like to switch over your order. This module is 0.35 cents less expensive and the only difference is the one we have in stock lights up white instead of blue. I apologize for the delay and will update with availability as it comes to me."
Any opinions on the white USB lights? Do they really make that much of a difference?
