Hello, I was wondering if you Sync 3 experts know why my Sync 3 is stuck scanning for updates when trying to update over WiFi. I have and excellent signal right outside my house. Even drove onto my side lawn to get up right next to the same wall my router shares. My F-150 is a 2016 sync 3 non Nav. And I'm still rocking v2.0 ...I'm due for an update. It appears I missed all the other updates prior to the latest v2.3 and it seems now I know why; stuck in scanning for updates.
Will a master reset work to fix this?
Side question: Is there also a way to type in a wireless SSID name in sync 3 if a network is hidden?

I just tried updating via USB (since WiFi option was stuck in scanning) from v2.0 to the latest 2.3
I'm currently running Sync 3 v2.0 on a non-nav unit.
I followed the directions on the owner.ford website. Got the files and put them on a 32GB SanDisk Ultra and I got this message that popped up about the "USB device requires too much power" ...I don't get it.
(Sorry about the blurry picture)
This is the USB thumbdrive I'm using.
Is it because it's USB3.0? Could plugging this in fry my USB ports? I tried reinserting the USB a couple times and also tried it on the 2nd USB port (I only have 2 total), the same message popped up. I cycled the vehicle off , opened a door, started the vehicle again and tried again a couple times. Nothing happens now. No pop up. The USB ports won't even charge my phone now.
Any ideas?

I just did mine using the exact same usb 3.0 thumb drive. Worked just the way it should. Only problem I have is sending the report back to Ford via the usb and my computer, I have tried several times but no luck with that.

Have you tested/tried the other USB port? Test your USB drive elsewhere and if it works okay, try to use it with the second USB port.
BTW, I have reformated the USB drive as exFAT and got rid of any compression/encryption ware that was there.
Check the update history on Ford owners site. I had three unsuccessful xml file upload attempts and gave up but when I checked SYNC update history, the update to v.2.3 was noted as done. It was successful after all.

Looks like I'm going to have to schedule a dealership appointment.

Yes. I tried the other USB port. That was a given. I only have two USB ports total, and they are side by side in the cuby hole. Maybe you're right and the hardware is bad. Because if it wasn't, I think it may be now. Just plugging in my USB cable into either port, which I always have done before, now no longer charges my phone.
