My issue only is with sirius app. I can only stream it from my phone via Bluetooth. Was hoping an update would resolve the issue. Maybe I'm being naive. Can't use the app via sync tells me to search channels etc and notbing comes up my favorites etc... nothing... I don't want to use my phone while driving thus my predicament. If I use AA there is no sirius option so it's either AA for navigation as I travel a lot for work or sync with no sirius and navigation through speakers... hope I'm making sense

Makes sense but your blame is misplaced. The Sirius app has never added Android Auto so this is squarely on Sirius. Bluetooth is the only option unless you have satellite radio. You can see all the AA apps here:

Unless you are having an issue I wouldn't bother upgrading.

I would also advise those installing the 3.0 floating around that should you have an issue involving SYNC and you go to the dealer don't be surprised if you get turned away as that is not a supported/official update.
I thought 2.2 was official? Mine downloaded over air to 2.2 automatically and iirc ford told me it was available

Vehicles built with 2.0 and 1.0 are not on the same upgrade path...officially. As far as Ford is concerned it is comparing apples to oranges. Two different things.

I did think it was the app that wasn't working, but it doesn't work with Sync nor AA. So was hoping it wasn't working with Sync based on lack of update. Streaming it via Bluetooth is a good quality but changing channels etc on my phone while driving could potentially be dangerous. Weird my Sync 3 system didn't come with sirius from the factory. I just assumed it did and well that was a fail and lack of thoroughness on my part

Downloaded Sync3 upgrade to my computer so that I can connect my Android. Unzipped the download package onto a formatted flashdrive. Inserted flashdrive into USB port and get message "device uses too much power!" All I could think was "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?" Any tips on what went wrong? I followed the download instructions on the website.

Ok, I re-formatted flashdrive with exFat. Downloaded zipped software to flashdrive according to instructions. Inserted into usb port and flashes a quick message "indexing 2-27-2017" and nothing after that being inserted for over 20 minutes. Never saw "download completed or anything after that. Has anybody gotten this?

I'll try that. From what I understand is this software install does is allow me to have "Android Auto Preferences" selection right?

yes, in my lariat when I tried it in the USB port nearest the driver nothing happened, even after leaving it in with ignition one etc. Transferred to the other USB port nearest the passenger and it worked immediately. Weird, because both USB ports seem to work normally

Based on your sig as a Ford employee working on Synch I'll take your word for it that the version 3.0 updates in circulation and being installed may not be official, but they sure look official and seem to be genuine.

My 18 came with 2.3 and I did the 3.0 update last weekend without incident. Everything seems to work with no discernible downside.

So you're saying somebody packaged something that may have been a beta and is distributing it as the real deal?
