Current SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information

I have a 2017 Platinum with nav, sync 3, sync connect, blah blah blah. The truck was a Dec 2016 build. I don't show an update available on the owner site. I have not received a message on Ford Pass. Lastly, when I try OTA, it searches for several seconds then goes away. The truck and owner website says I have version 2.0 and that I have the latest version. Oh, my travel link traffic does not load. HELP!!! HELP!! HELP!!

Sadly I'm having the same issues between bad installation file and when I can get it to start the update I get out of memory.
Chiming in here with my experience. I don't drive a F150, but in relation to issues upgrading to 2.2, I found this forum to be far more active than any others I found. I drive a 2016 Focus Titanium non-nav.
I've chatted with SYNC support online on 3 separate occasions. I've tried installing the update maybe 9 times? Ten times? I honestly lost count. None of my attempts have worked. At the direction of chat reps, I've:
1. Performed different combinations of module resets, master resets, and key cycles.
2. Tried 4 separate USB drives...2 64 GB, 1 32 GB, and 1 16 GB.
3. Attempted to update via wi-fi.
My first 4 attempts (10-15 minutes) would update, then after the SYNC reboot, would display "Bad Installation File. One or more of the files being installed on your system did not install correctly". I followed SYNC support's directions, and after 30-35 minutes, received "Installation failed. The installation has run out of space or does not work with this version". I received this error 2 or 3 times. I once again attempted a module reset + master reset, and my latest attempts will not even begin the installation process. My latest 3 attempts resulted in immediate "Bad Installation File. One or more of the files being installed on your system did not install correctly" errors. My figures could be off because, truly, I've tried updating quite a lot of times. The last chat rep escalated my issues, and I've been communicating with SYNC support via email. They were very responsive up until last Friday. Since my last reply Friday afternoon, I haven't heard a peep from them with further guidance.
To add insult to injury, the failed installations appear to have affected my ability to fully use SYNC.
1. My voice recognition does not work when my iPhone is plugged in. Pushing the steering wheel button results in a message indicating the voice recognition is not ready.
2. My Bluetooth connection has become super spotty. I've had to re-connect my phone on several occasions.
3. I can no longer hear or view text messages via the notification that appears when I receive a message. Tapping on anything other than the "cancel" button doesn't do anything.
At this point I'd be satisfied just being able to truly roll back my software to 1.0. Given the issues I'm having, it appears that my software is stuck in some sort of purgatory between 1.0 and 2.2. It's pretty disappointing that it's May 2017, and this update which (I think) rolled out 6 or so months ago is still borked. I'd understand if I was an early adopter, but 6 months in...that's frustrating.
I've read through many pages on this thread, and will continue to follow it, as I have a suspicion that this issue won't be resolved by any of the input Ford's help team provides.

Can someone paste the instructions to update via USB from the owner.ford.com website. It won't allow me to see the webpage with the instructions because I have v2.0 and their are no sync updates available for me. There is a popup that says these instructions do not pertain to your model vehicle and click ok to proceed to pages pertaining to my vehicle.

UPDATED – 4/27/17
TO MY KNOWLEDGE FORD HAS RELEASED VERSION 2.2 TO ALL FORD VEHICLES. PLEASE CHECK THE FORD OWNER SITE FOR YOUR UPDATE (http://owner.ford.com/) , LET IT UPDATE VIA WIFI OR VISIT YOUR DEALER.
I wanted to get something written up for those 16+ SYNC3 owners to have some quick reference to. In regards to CarPlay and Android Auto…YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PHONE CONNECTED VIA USB.
SYNC 3 Version Releases
Version 1.0 - Initial Release Version - Does not contain Android Auto/CarPlay
Version 1.1 – Early update for Version 1.0 to correct minor bug issues
Version 2.0 - Only available on late build models of the 2016s (roughly July 2016). Version 2.0 is the first build to contain Android Auto and CarPlay. This is also standard on early build 2017 models. Please note if you have a 2016 model you will need a new CarPlay compliant USB hub to utilize CarPlay. No way around it.
Version 2.2 build 16280 – This was initially released as an update for some 2016 Lincoln models in Dec. 2016. In Feb. 2017 I noticed that most Fords/Lincolns were being shipped from the factory with 2.2 in them. Version 2.2 does contain CarPlay/Android Auto. This has been referred to as hacked, leaked, etc. This is a legitimate release. It just wasn’t released for all models.
Version 2.2 build 17011 – This is the widely released update for SYNC3 (as of late April 2017). This is what will be available for your vehicle via the owner site/WIFI update/Dealer update if your vehicle qualifies for it. THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE INSTALLING.
You are able to check your version by going into the General icon and then ABOUT menu item. The version is listed at the top and not to be confused with gracenote or navigation version. If installing by USB it seems SYNC3 is very picky with what type of USB flash drive is used. It is hit or miss as to if the system will like your USB flash drive. My suggestion is if the installation fails do a master reset and use a different USB flash drive. REMEMBER FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE OWNER SITE FOR USB INSTALLATION.
If further information pertaining to this topic is received I will attempt to update this original thread. I would like to ask that opinions about Apple versus Android be kept out of this and the keep the topic on task.

All works ok with current build but I like to be on latest and greatest build.
