curb weight per manual vs curb weight on scales
^ Quoted for truth.
Yeah...the basic question is around why the listed curb weight in the manuals and on the websites, etc are no where close to the actual weight...by several hundred pounds. Let's compare this to boats...boat weights are very well documented, the media will list it as base engine, dry weight, etc...so it makes sense if you have a big block instead of a small block and the weight of fuel, water, gear, etc is added. Really kind of the same thing with campers. It's like Ford never actually put one of the damned trucks on a scale, lol!

Somewhere around here is a link to the Ford weight spec manual. I found mine for my old 2017 called “eSourceBook”. In it there is detailed information on every component option such as radio, navigation, tailgate steps, wheel combination, etc. it even shows how much of that weight is on the rear or front wheels. Ford knows exactly what their trucks weigh.

My 2020 F-150 SuperCrew, 5.0 engine, Lariat package shows something like 4,900 pounds curb weight per the manual...but when I put it on the scales it was 5,770. Figuring 400 pounds of passenger weight at the time, and it had only a half tank of gas...I wonder where the ~300 pounds weight difference is? It is still some 700 pounds lighter than the 2010 truck it replaced...amazing.
