Cost a factor between GMC Sierra and F-150

2003 F-150 King Ranch
I am deciding between a 2015 F-150 Platinum 3.5 ecoboost and the 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 5.3 V8 ecotec3. I currently drive a 2010 F150 XLT SCREW. The 2010 I currently drive actually disappointed me with mechainical and stuctual problems. Cost of Ford about 5K more. Cost of insurance premium 350 more per year. Test drove both. The Ford definitely felt like it had more kick but honestly the 5.3 V8 of the GMC is a pretty good engine. I only tow 2500 pound pop-up 3-5 times per year. I liked the interior of the Denali more. I am more of a Ford guy but the price difference and the insurance premium difference is pushing me towards my first GM product! Please help with kind and honest advice.

It seems to me you are looking at the luxury level of both brands, so I don't get the cost quibbling. Buy what you like. If your concerned about cost at that level then maybe you can't afford either one. Get a well optioned Lariat next to a similar GM producer of price is the issue.

Could save you a couple large.

I too am currently driving a GM. Bought a Silverado this time around because I've had 3 F150's in the past several years. I needed something different to look at and figured there wouldn't be any great deals on the new body for another year anyhow. When my lease is up, I'm coming back for the newer gen features.
But the 5.3 GM is a great engine. Pulls my 24' boat like it's not there. Of course, the Eco on the F150 pulled it without hesitation either. Compared to the last gen model of the F150, I'm getting the exact same mileage in the new truck (it has less than 1,000 miles on it though). The numbers on the new F150 sound more appealing though.
I would bet that after negotiations that you'll find the GM to be more than $5k cheaper but you're sacrificing the awesomeness of the newer gen F150 which is hard to walk away from. Likewise, if you can find a '14 F150 on the lot then you might save more than the GM you're looking at.

Hmm, my insurance cost actually went down by just a few bucks for the 2015, but nonetheless went down. You might want to check your rates against Nationwide. As for the trucks themselves, I agree with most here that you've really got to do a side-by-side feature-by-feature comparison between the two trucks to determine if there is an actual price difference or they really are equipped differently.
In the end, though, it's your money so buy what works for you and what you really want. I'm sure that either truck will work well for you.
Myself, I tend to be fairly brand-loyal unless I have had some pretty serious issues that weren't handled properly. I'm a take care of me and I'll take care of you kinda guy.

With the size of the back seats of crew cabs these days they should all have tri-climate control.

I recently switched from Ford to GMC. I got the SLE so it's no where near as nice as the Denali.
Cost was a huge factor for me, paid $32,600 for a Crewcab 6.5' box, 5.3 with z71 package and heated seats added. I couldn't touch a comparable Ford for that price.
So for (had it for 4 months) I'm happy with it. It's not hard to get over 20mpg's on the highway which is good in my mind. BUT mileage drop drastically with weight in the bed, or towing. With 3 snowbikes, 2 guys, gear, gas, etc driving the mountains in the winter I'm getting around 15.
Cab is nice, quiet, comfy, etc. They all are these days though.
My biggest annoyance with it is how it encourages you to drive for fuel economy. The pedal feel gets stiff and discourages you from pressing it hard enough to make it shift from 4 cylinder mode to 8, or to down shift. I'm getting used to it now, but it was really annoying at first.
Second annoyance - no vents to the back WTF? My 2005 F150 had vents to the back.
Overall pleased though. I set a budget of $35k otd when shopping, I simply could not get a ford with any sort of options for that price.

No doubt the new GM K2xx trucks are great vehicles but seem like they had a lot more teething issues than these new 2015 f150s so far. But, their price point right now (and even with 2014 f150s that weren't on fire sale status) is much better.
