So far.. my Home Made Setup (posted earlier in this thread in detail) has done quite well.. no indication of odd wear on the back of the seat... all parts have remained in their appropriate positions, and it still is working wonderfully!

I am glad I added that block of stiff foam, to "level" things out where the installation is.. I believe that helped minimize weird wear on the seat back.

Too bad, Ford could not have done it this way, in the first place!

Several things in the FWIW department:

1. Tim and I did our dead level best to convince Ford Engineering (we actually worked directly with them developing and deploying the TSB) to do the COMPLETE correction of the 2015+ design (intake and exhaust ducts)..... but for their own reasons they only did the intake sock to eliminate the seatback hot spot vs. truly retrofitting the design to the pre 2015 optimized configuration

2. Tim decided to use his engineering skills to develop and share his total solution..... he had a full time business.... but did it to benefit all of us. IMHO he got far too much flack from some folks as he was doing his best effort to improve design and ship product

3. Tim quietly switched to his Ram quite a while ago.... I am recalling it was 1-2 years ago.... before all the latest 2019 improvements.... but despite his personal challenges he continued to produce his kits. (It was a dead-end business opportunity for him as Ford changed the design totally in 2018 away from TED cooling to VENTILATED seats) .... and to his credit he NEVER really poor mouthed Ford on this Forum.

4. Ford ironically has problems in weather extremes..... witness both the cooling seat failures AND the freezing latch problems (which, by the way, they still have not seemingly solved despite several years of problems). They HAVE let us owners down, especially in these two areas!

Myself, I am totally thankful that Tim and I got to work together and, in my opinion he is a fine person..... calls to mind a twist on an old saying.... "No good DUDE (deed) will remain unpunished!.....

Thanks for all your efforts Tim.... best of luck with your relocation and career changes......and I am certain that I speak for (almost) everyone in saying that the Forum will miss you and your contributions!!!....... AZPLAT

Replacements for the broken nozzle arrived on May 2nd. Thank you Tim for your timely help with this matter.

I am thinking I may put some electrical heat shrink over the nozzle to prevent a future crack.

I then created a plug end out of a few pieces of aluminum tape and scissors, and used that to help seal the end... Not in the photos: I also lined the inside of this part of the tube with aluminum tape for strength.

I attached it to the TED with Aluminum Tape, and strategically placed Zip Ties... Then routed it into the gap behind the fame and out the bottom as in photo:

For the Intake Side, I removed 1/3 of the side of the rubber flexible end of my hose and simply taped it to the intake. I figured it was not as important to get a total seal on this end, so I my goal was just to make it solid.

I had these 2"x2" x 1/2" solid foam blocks lying around, so I put one in as filler to create a smooth appearance on the seat back.

I secured the loose stuff with zip ties and sealed it back up...

Here is a photo looking under the seat.. The black tubes barely peek out from under the trim...

You can readily feel the air coming out of the exhaust, and you can sense that the intake is pulling air in as well.

OH.. and that little black box, in the lower left under the seat! That is my Gun Safe, strapped to the main seat frame with a Tungsten Cable.

And there you have it... One DYI Fix on the seat issue.
Quick question about this, what did you do the ends that come down the seat? Do they just stay open and wrap down or are the other ends attached to something?

I'm about to do this and that's the only thing i don't really understand.

OK all quick question. So I was bored and looked at the design some and thought about making a tweak to the aluminum plate I include in the kit. Basically the cracks I have seen are just fatigue over time and movement. My thought here is that I would extend the aluminum bracket farther toward the hose and then have you run a zip tie (red lines in picture) around the bracket and the adapter. Hard to explain and I dont get the metal overnight so just wanted to get a feeler out to see what you all thought. The metal cost me money to order them so need some commitment. My thought was to do a "replacement/upgrade" package. Here is a picture of my CAD drawing of the new aluminum part. Should we call it V5... LOL

So if you are interested can you click the like button on this post. I will check back next week.

Tim/Folks,

The above post from Tim exhibits the "True Tim" better than my words in post #5442 could ever say. How many individuals wouldn't just "walk away" from this issue (he doesn't even OWN a Ford Truck any more!!) vs. trying an incremental improvement to a product that has just the limited 2015-17 market opportunity!? BTW... almost ALL of the '15-'17 Ford cooling seats (e.g. Mustang, Explorer etc.) share this "duct deficient" TED design and also have the problem. Regardless, he will not be able to retire on his profits from his kits!!.....

Shucks, there are probably tons of '15-'17 owners out there that do not even REALIZE that their seats have this problem.... many dealers told owners that they are performing correctly!! LOL

Bravo Tim...... AZPLAT

Hi Thuggs...

If you look at the third to last to last photo... where you can see the entire assembly, note at the bottom, I have the pipes going through the holes I cut out the bottom wrap material.. When you lift and pull pull the bracket back up into place, you will discover that material holds the pipes in place quite nicely... then, with some careful trimming, you can make the pipes barely stick out the bottom. That is how I have them now.. no other attachments. In the last photo, you are looking at the pipes barely sticking out through the holes of that support material as it is in its proper position.

I hope that helps a little.

Tim...

Your design makes sense... That would definitely relieve much of the stress that is twisting your printed parts, cracking them between the layers. Plus, help hold it together should it ever decide to crack in the future.

Kudos!
