Just want to thank you guys once again for the time and effort you put into this great fix, would be a shame if every summer I had to drive around pissed at Ford and their poor design... As it is I drive around thanking you for my cool back..

Tim, your web site shows an option of $190 for US and $200 for CA. Do I just pick the "if button above doesn't work" option and enter $150?

Thanks

Message #5394 on this subject.

The things some companies will do to save $10 up front, even if it will cost them $100 later.

Lots more than $100 my friend..... when you figure all the folks that would have kept/bought F-150s if the cooling seats really DID work as well as the pre-2015s! It could have become a differentiator this year between the F-150 and...say... the new RAM trucks.... it is an option that many drivers that spend a lot of time in their vehicles in hot weather MIGHT have used to make their buying decisions... little things like that DO drive sales one way or the other!

However, as you know Tim and I got to spend a lot of time working directly with the Ford Engineering Team on developing/testing and deploying the TSB and the changes they made to the design were a combination of weight/space savings and "reduced complexity" far more than cost savings per se.....IMHO.

They truly believed that, by taking the 2018+ seats to the more "industry conventional" ventilated design they were moving in a better direction for overall seat design (slimness, weight, adjustability, improved heating, etc.) BTW.... if you never had experienced a pre-2015 cooled seat (which worked wonderful for the most part), you might think that the ventilated version was marvelous......smile.

Engineers tend to not be driven as much by cost but more by other goals..... you can always mitigate costs by using other factors as being more important....

BTW... in all our discussions with the Seat Complete Team (really a great bunch of folks at heart!) I cannot remember cost EVER being brought up in our considerations. Perhaps at some internal Ford level it was a factor, but not in discussing re-design of the 2015+ "cooling seats". And, when I got a confidential briefing on what the 2018 changes to ventilated versions it was not mentioned either!!! They were convinced that it was a better direction.... moving away from the TED units to ventilation and flow to "cool", with electric heat pads for winter months.

SO much for my $.02 worth....smile....AZPLAT

I have had Tim's kits installed in my 2015 Plat since he first introduced them and have followed this forum since the beginning. I've been very pleased with the performance. Recently I drove a rental 2018 Lincoln MKC SUV with cooled/heated seats and I gotta say the cooled seats worked great on seat and back. Definitely worked better that the F150 seats. Wonder what was different about the design?

I'm going to buy Tim's kit for my 2015 Platinum. I have an appointment in a week to have the dealer put in the TSB retrofit. Should I cancel getting the retrofit installed, and just go with the kit only? Or would having the retrofit installed be a good starting point for installing the kit? Would the kit work any better if it had the latest greatest Ted from Ford? Thanks all.

Seems you haven’t been following this thread that closely.. The newer seats SUCK when set to cooling...😀😀

In other words no TED to cool the air,,,,,,, they just suck cabin air pass your butt and back making you feel cooler.. And use a heating pad for heat.

If someone confirms it works the same either way, I will forget the Ford fix. Same?
