My 2017 Lariet that has less than 500 miles on the clock has the same issues (I assume the same issue; I have not read through all 500 pages of this thread).

The bottom gets noticeably cool after 10-15 minutes on high, but never really got so cold that I had to turn it down lower. While the back doesn't seem to do anything noticeable in the same time-frame...

I have yet to take the truck on a long drive; the longest so far has been maybe 30 minutes. After this 4th, I will see how they cool, as I will be driving for over an hour... However, I do fee the seats should cool relatively quick, or it defeats the purpose...

My '15 was a Lariat and when it was working, only the bottom got cold. This time I bought a Platinum with different seats and bottom and top get cold.

I recently ordered a 2017 Platinum and I can tell you that the seat backs don't cool at all. The bottom's seem ok, but not a drop of air coming out the seat backs.

I guess I finally got lucky for once. I couldn't be happier with mine. I actually didn't even turn them on for a couple days after the purchase because I had forgot they existed from my horrible experience with them in previous truck.

Default Is there a good summary here on how Ford says the seats are supposed to work?

I am reading through the posts when I can. My dealer says that the bottoms are supposed to blow but not the backs. He said the back should cool but not blow. Is there an official statement by Ford that explains how they should work?

Probably not but I can tell you that your dealer (and tons of others reported along the way) are FOS!!! Witness that Ford issued a TSB addressing partially fixing the SEATBACK TED issue by adding an "intake Sock" to cure the major hotspot problem in original '15 "cooling" seats.

Only with SeatGuru's fix will you get optimized performance in the seat back (intake and exhaust ducting). The perforations on the seatback are there to VENTILATE ("cool") that area but some dealers have totally missed the boat regarding how they SHOULD work. I expect that in 2018 Ford will address improved seat ventilation... awaiting official word of that from my Ford Seat Complete contact..... AZPLAT

Thats what I was thinking Benjamo...friend of mine has a 2017 explorer platnium edition...The seat bottom def does not feel as cool as mine with tims fix & there is zero air on the back...I find it very odd that some people are getting air on the back while others are not lol That clearly shows that there is a defect... I plan to get in several 2017s next time Im on the ford lot to really test this out...I just wish there was a way to balance the cooling off bc the seat bottom is much cooler than the seat back.....Would be great if we could somehow equalize the cooling of the bottom with the back!

Looks like performance of OEM seats is a crap shoot, no difference in construction.

So, I've read through post 203 where it sounded like the fix on the 2015s had solved the issue. But when I skip to the end of the posts it looks like the 2017s are having the same problem.

My truck is a 2016 Platinum. When I took it in recently to have them check the seats I was told the air was not supposed to blow through the back. They even had a new 2017 on the lot that worked (or didn't work) the same way. I told them that because it doesn't work properly either doesn't mean that is supposed to be that way. They were disappointed that I didn't accept their proof.

I guess I will read through the next 300 posts to find out how Ford was involved and came up with a working fix, to still producing truck seats that do no cool properly.

I just need all the information I can get because the Service Advisor first told me he had never heard of any cooling problems with the seats and then that they are working properly. I don't think they even unzipped the back to see if everything is connected properly.
