Cooling Seats issue and TSB feedback
#4971
There is no way the ted drops temps by 15 degrees...if it's 85 in cab there is no way the ted makes the seats 70! At least not the seat back that's for sure. I wish there was a way to increase the cooling on the seat back. Also using the feet vent does not help much in cooling the seats bc by using feet vent you lose power of the ac cooling blowing on you and the seats..I have tims intake going into the rear passenger feet vent and I really don't notice a huge difference when temps are in 80 to 90 degrees

Tim probably knows what the difference is between 2012-2014 and 2015 and up Ford Cooled and heated seat systems. In my 2013 and our 2012 the Cooled and heat seats work very good, so much that you have to lower temps. Both seat bottom and back, work equally as well.

AbitaPro : maybe tim can see how the 13 were made & we can create a new system that will work a lot better for cooling? Honestly, if I could get better cooling on the back Id be happy but most of the cooling is on the bottom...Also, I need to always have it on 3 bars to cool well on the bottom...1 or 2 bars is only good when the temps are 70 to 75...

Tim and I talked about this many times during our discussion with Ford and the net of what I concluded was, other than removing intake/exhaust ducting in the initial '15 design, a lot of the physical construction (thickness etc.) aspects were altered in order to reduce weight while still providing good support etc.
That said, I am not sure that any attempt to retro back to the pre '15 TED design/components in and of itself would work better than what Tim has derived in his intake/exhaust solution, given the new seat construction and profile. It is the encapsulated area within the seat that had the most change, not the TED solution itself. The slimmer seats seem to just have that drawback as compared to pre-'15 versions.
Tim can expound far better on this point but that is my $ .02 worth..... smile... AZPLAT

Having owned a '11 and '13 Platinum, I agree totally. Sometimes when you change the basic design of the seat itself, unintended consequences arise.... I feel that is what happened in '15!!.... AZPLAT

If you are saying there is no further FORD solution forthcoming for '15-'17 seats.... you are correct. However, for anyone dissatisfied with "cooling" on their seatbacks, Tim's solution gives an alternative, and this thread gives a wealth of information on the issue......AZPLAT
