Same? Yes and no. Fords fix will add the "sock" to take care of the intake side, pulling fresh air from under the seat. However it does nothing with the exhaust side, leaving that to dump out into the cavity in the back of the seat.

Tim's kit, on the other hand, takes care of both the intake and the exhaust sides, routing both to the bottom of the seat.

In my mind, Tim's is the better solution, which is why I have ordered one of his kits and will not be doing the Ford fix. Plus I think having plastic tubing will be better than the sock that ford uses. But I've not yet installed the kit, so it's really just my opinion, which I based on what others have stated throughout this thread, from their experiences with both.

Great response, that's kinda what I was thinking. When I saw the service procedure, and thought of some guy going berzerk with scissors on my seats to get them done in the standard allowed time, it made me quesy. With all the adjustable bolsters and massage stuff in the seat back, the anxiety increased.

My truck was a November 2015 build (2016 MY). It seemed like the TSB indicated a problem for my truck, end of story. Yet the service manager was really pushing back hard about it may not need the fix, and a TSB fix wasn't a done deal until after I brought it in and they checked it.

Dumb question, isn't that sock susceptible to just being smashed and flow restricting? My wife has the seat back up and down a lot which can't help the situation.

I can't say for certain if it's capable of pinching off the sock and restricting airflow, but to me it seems possible. Perhaps that's why they used the material that they did. By nature it seems that it would be porous, meaning even if it got pinched it may still be able to pull in some air through the walls of the sock.

Technically, I would say that would be possible, even with Tim's solution, though with the rigidity of the tubing i would think it would be more difficult to pinch.

Since you mention having the massaging seats, you should probably check, and tighten if needed, the duct that runs from the TED to the back of the seat. From other posts on this thread, people have seen where inflating the lumbar, or activating the massage mechanism has caused that duct to disconnect. If it disconnects then any cool air would just be going into the seat back cavity and not the front of the seat. I plan to inspect mine really well when i have it all apart to install the kit and tighten things up if needed.

Got on the website to order my kit, and noticed that it had a pic of a TSB seat. It sure looks like mine with that white honeycomb stuff, is that the TSB sock? Could my November 2015 build MY2016 have gotten the fix at the factory? Just curious, I'm still getting the kit in either case. Here are my seats:

Hi where did most of you run the exhaust tube for tims kit? I tried to get it to vent through a small metal part in the seats corner but it can't seem to fit through and squeezes the tube. I'm wondering if this is letting sum of the exhaust heat back into the seat cavity and not keeping the seats as cool as possible?

Ah I see I tried squeezing it thru but it wouldn't go. Would I get better cooling if the end was squeezed thru?
