On second look though, isn't that a duct going to a fan on the seat back? I don't think that is a Ted??

Depends on where this new snorkel gets the intake air from.
The exhaust air can continue to exit the seatback via the leather perforations, right?

I think you would be able to recoup your development costs by selling your fix on eBay.

Unless Ford's snorkel resolves the heat and cool issue, I'll still want to buy your exhaust system.

Tommy does not foresee this being a recall...only a TSB.
This has been stuck in my head since I read it, and it's just sad and frustrating.

It's pretty obvious that there is a break in communications along the Ford customer service chain, quite disappointing customer service in all regards. Hell, there are 3 trucks at my dealership with this issue, and over 300 in this one thread! How many of us have given our info to the Ford rep on this forum alone, not counting the Ecoboost forums members.

No, the blower is the round looking thing just north of the TED. The TED has two exits, one blows the cooled/heated (depending on your selection) air into the seat; the other exit is the exhaust for the TED. On the 2013 seat, the exhaust is what's connected to that long exit pipe that's headed south down out of the seat cavity.

Basically Ford just cheaped out on the design of this one and tried to copy the GM design without actually putting a grill on the back of the seat. Tim's design of getting the hot air out really does help (I know for certain!), but the cavity inside the seat is smaller than the 2013 seats so some residual heat continues to be trapped which is why he has the intake snorkel pulling air from outside the seat cavity as well.

I almost want to question the efficiency of the TED they chose for this seat as well... I had a 2013 King Ranch with no problems at all... makes me wonder if you could retrofit the 2013 TED with Tim's snorkels and have a COLD seatback???

SRG963,

I hear ya about the only 6-7. When he first started talking and 6-7 was coming out of his mouth I was envisioning the word thousand or hundred to follow. Boy was I wrong. I conjectured that it might only 6-7 people who have filed complaints with the BBB, ODI, etc that you have kept in your signature in the very early stages of the 2015s rolling out. I told him that there are close to 400 on this forum with the problem. Basically if you add the bottom 2 is pushing 360. And if you add the bottom 3 its over 400. Thats a lot of people who have taken this poll. Out of all those numbers only a small portion contribute on a regular basis. So only maybe a small about push complaints higher. Just guessing.

When I brought up this forum too, Tommy said there are lots of people who sole job is to follow forums, do social media, send tweets. If they were following this thread they would have learned a lot.

Tommy also said that they were initially told to keep files on the 2015s until the end of April, but now he said they are keeping the files and stuff open till next year. I am wondering what happened in April that decided to make them keep the files. Could they have been aware of this issue a long time ago? Did they stop taking notes for May, June, and July and started again in Aug? Fishy?

When I speak to Tommy on Monday I will see if I can get him to talk to the engineer that spilled the beans about the snorkel and see if they looked into a snorkel issue. I would think with the cooled function you would not want residual heat in the seat making the TED have to work harder.

Well, your service manager has a learning opportunity-
Hot air exits this pipe with the seat cooler on. Confirmed. The only connections from the truck body to the seat are electrical.

With all the posts I guess it is easy to get confused....as a long term follower/contributor to this and other forums on this topic (I originally got BUCKO to merge the two threads on the topic)....I have two questions as a happy 2011 and 2013 owner...

1. IS the TED itself on the 2015 different from the 2013 (PN only, size??)...

2. Some posts by DWC referenced the 2016 f-350 seats as being ducted from the factory.....intake and exhaust??...are the seats themselves different/bigger!? so they have more room to stuff "junk" into them??

Thanks

Thanks for the clarification! I rode in a 2014 Limited before I bought my 2015 KR. The owner of the 2014 was showing off the cooled seats and turned them on to show me. After about 2 minutes I was reaching for the button to turn it down! And this was on a 90 degree day. Ford really needs to get this figured out!

[QUOTE=KLS;4296879]For info the seats on the '13 have a similar design to the '15, it looks like the biggest difference is the hot exhaust is vented out of the seat. The unit on the '13 does not cause the seat to get hot at all. I'm hoping this fix from Ford addresses the hot exhaust otherwise it looks like I'll have seat cooling I can't use- I received a call from Ford customer service today.(Amber) She had called my dealership and discussed this issue and pointed out to me that I had not had the truck in for this issue. I explained that I felt there was no fix yet. I was told to take it in because I wouldn't know that until the dealer has a look- whatever, I'll take it in just seams like a waste of my time.

[QUOTE]

If you don't bring it back in, they will likely close your case, so you have to waste your time so service can document your visit and then tell you they don't have a fix, but are working on it!
