I agree that asking for a free truck is out there, but if you don't ask you wont receive. That I know for certain.

I am not sure if it was the integrity of the dealership or if it was approved by Ford but in post 1356 it appears that a dealership bought back a Platinum. I am not sure how long after the purchase this took place, but none the less they refunded the money.

I can dream right?

I joined to say I am another one with the same problem. My dealer replaced the entire cooling mechanism and told me it was fixed. It still didn't work, now they say can't do anything until a "fix" is issued by ford.

I went in for my seat backs not cooling at all, they get really hot actually and was told only the seat bottom cools and not the backs. I don't get how they don't know how there own product works. Or that this excuse has worked with customers accepting that's how it really works and forgetting about it.

I just got back from doing a drop in surprise visit on my dealership where my truck has been daily since last Thursday. It was sitting in the maintenance bay with no one working on (maybe a good thing). The service adviser, Andy and Jethro, said they were waiting to hear back from Ford on what to test next. I guess they are messaging someone at Ford. They will get a response back with something else to test etc. Jethro said that yesterday they had him reflash some control modules to see if that helped. Today Jethro said that he had the computer plugged in and it was even telling him that there is a temperature difference of 20 degree between the bottom and the back (70 on the bottom and 90 on the back). He said when he checked it with a surface thermometer it was 95ish. Jethro agrees there is a problem. His thought that there is no where for the heat to go and I know you don't want holes in your seat back.

Andy mentioned that there are two other vehicles that he is aware of that has this problem.

I asked if there was anything else I could do by contacting my regional customer service rep and they said no. Basically the only thing left the dealer can do is have Ford send out their regional engineer and then wait to see if he can fix it or Ford has a fix put out.

I know I am spinning my wheels with them doing stuff, but basically I want things document that I jumped through all the hoops. On a positive note my local guys know the seat back is supposed to cool and are no longer giving me the BS answer that everything checks out okay.

Let the waiting game continue.

Wonder how my setup would change the computer numbers...

That's some pretty powerful alcohol in your glass isn't it?

I still want to see documentation that shows the seat backs are suppose to be cool. I have yet to see anything that specifically shows what areas of the seat are cooled. My seat backs do not cool either but do I care? It would be nice if they did and if this is a screw up then a TSB will be on its way.

Just FYI there is a TED in the seat back with a tube that goes into the lumbar area of the seat. I would say around bottoms of my shoulder blades. Pretty sure that is proof enough they are supposed to cool...

I'm not doubting you, just saying there is nothing in the manual nor word from Ford that the entire seat is "cooled". However I certainly do agree that he design is flawed.

Glad to hear they are working. I just installed another revision on mine and it is working even better now. Not to brag but cooler air coming from the back is kinda nice!

It will be interesting to see how close the "fix" is to my solution and if it is more invasive. dstrat1 how long did it take you to install one seat? 10 minutes?
