Cooling Seats issue and TSB feedback

Just to be clear, I wish no ill will toward Ford. I am a Ford guy and have driven Fords more than any other brand out there. It is not the lack of a fix yet that upsets me, it is the lack of an OFFICIAL acknowledgement of an issue. I am tired of the "operating normally" excuse. I am tired of getting in my truck in a suit with it being 100 degrees outside and not being able to use my seat cooling function. Customer service 101 is acknowledge the issue, and communicate with the client. Neither has been done here. I think that is all most of us are asking for: Officially acknowledge the issue, keep us abreast of the fix and roll it out when ready. Not so hard to do Ford.
In the meantime, if silence continues, I would like to have some sort of roll call for the Houston area. I think it makes sense in case we need to make our voice heard. I know the media would love this. This would be a last resort, of which, I hope not to have to do.

I agree with you on this!!
They could have greatly reduced the grumbling and discontent if they had done just as you say.
A TSB could have gone out with a statement, fix to follow. Would save the dealers tons of time and money also, not to mention how customers feel about their new purchase!

I'm in Houston. Instead of media I would suggest that as many people as possible show up with the trucks to the same dealer at the same time with the seat cooling already running (and hot). Not turn the trucks off and then get the service manager to come out and feel the issue.
It might go over better if we give a heads up since we are not irritated with any particular dealer.

It WOULD be a shame if the media "happened" to be there....
I am with Bob, I have NO ill will towards Ford and LOVE my 2015 otherwise, but somehow I guess we need to smack them across the face to get their attention....what a shame....

2015 F150 Lariat
Same issue - 2015 F150 Lariat
Having owned a 2011/2013/and now 2015 F150 with the heated/cooled seats I do know when they work they are awesome.
Attempted to use the cooling function for my drivers seat a few times. Each time I did so I noticed I was warm in my back but the seat was cool. I thought at first it was my imagination. So I did a little online research because when it happened this weekend I stopped, got out, and felt the seat back with my hand, then cheek. It was hot!
Found the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site and there are 30 complaints on this issue alone. Anyone know if anything officially is being done?
Called my servicing dealership today and the tech I spoke with had not heard of this problem and I needed to bring it in to be checked.
Has anyone brought their vehicle in for this issue? Any resolution or are you told it is your imagination?

Most that have taken them in are told it's normal they all do this. Which of course is true.
It's a bad design and not a easy problem for Ford to fix. They don't seem to care as they have your money already and winter is coming.

I here ya brother!!
If I was in your situations then I would feel the same and can fully understand where you are coming from.
I think I would undo the top part for now so you can get some benefit while you are waiting and that will help reduce the pain.
Ford is a large company and in many ways are like the our government, because of their size, things don't move quickly!
I wish you the best and hope it comes sooner rather than later for all of us. Either way though, I think we can kiss this summer goodby to the fully cooled seating.

Last Thursday my truck went in for an oil change, tire rotation, etc and to have the cowling replaced. That part had been on back order since early June. Since it was going in I had them check the seats. I had been complaing to the GM and the sales guy that my cooled seats felt like the heat was on. They poo-pooed me. Well, with the help of this forum I took several video clips of the cooled seat being tested with a laser inferred thermometer. I sent it to the GM and saleman to let them know the temps it was reaching and that this was after 20mins of it running. They tested and said it was normal. Long story short (I posted the long version on a few pages back) they only ran it for 5-10 min tops. Guess what, they got to test it again Friday. What do you know...they noticed it getting really hot and another truck came in that day with the same problem. They scrambled around contacting other dealers and Ford Tech help on how to solve the problem.
Solution: No real fix. They did unplug the top portion so I can have a chilly rump. In doing so the top massage function and any inflated back support is now not functional. Wow...At least the dealership here knows I am not crazy. I also told them to be ready for more f150s and other models. I think this problem extends beyond just the F150s.

I'm just blown away at the apparent lack of testing. It would seem every truck with the heat and cooling option has this issue, there is no way based on the design that they could work as intended. It's almost like they never used them. With all the road testing and vehicles they had on the road to car shows and displays did they never run the seat cooling?? The manufacture of the seat system I'm guess is who Ford is hammering right now to get a fix. We don't know if Ford did the design and they just built it or if it is their design too. I would like to know who the manufacture is for these seat systems. It is bad and all but not the end of the world for me. I'm more concerned about the high heat to the back of the seat than anything else! I love the truck and am very happy with everything but this issues of course. I am not ready to trash the praise of the 15 model over this one issue. I do feel they will get it fixed to some degree and at least remove the high heat issue to the back of the seat. Bob

Johnson Controls also makes the seats and supplies the interior hard trim for the 2015 Ford F-150. That sentence was copied from JCI website. So it looks like JCI is still making the seats.
