when the TED produces cold air it has to extract the heat just like an air conditioner and dispose of it,,,,,i can feel a very warm area in the middle of the seat back when the cooling function is selected....yesterday it felt the same way it was so hot it was warming the seat back....i suspect these systems are not working properly...

Phase one is solved...unzipped the seat back, as shown in the photos the fan connected to the TED and then a completely disconnected duct....one tie wrap and it is connected now...so the seatback, of the platinum has cooling, if it is connected..You can see part of the filter behind the protective cover, and the vent above the white sticker on the TED was venting warm air to the ambient area one photo show it as found, the other once connected....both photos should be rotated 90 degrees to the right

How did you unzip the seatback cover? I've pulled out the tag ends of the zipper from both sides of the back's bottom. Is there a technique to unzip them, since they are on the inside of the cover and the zippers have no tags to grip.

Got a 3 week old platinum 150, and the seats, or atleast the drivers seat just changed radically..used to cool fine on one bar, now with three bars i can just tell its working...i can hear the fan run and respond appropriatley , but little to almost none cooling....in addition if i feel the middle of the back of the seat where i presume the fan is it is warm to hot....fuse is fine.....ideas...how do you get access to trouble shoot....dealer is backed up to the 17th

I'm having the same issue. Dealer said everything was working correctly. I was picking up late in the afternoon and didn't have time to argue. If it's true then Ford's design is terrible... my GMC's seat back cooling was much much better. Will be bringing back to the dealer soon.
What are the years and mileage for your trucks? I want to check out some options.
FordService, can we get some clarification on this? Are both the bottoms and back supposed to be cooling? Mine only cools the bottoms on both seats. Heat is working on both bottoms and backs.
This is specifically for the 2015 from our Parts Subject Matter Expert: It cools the seat bottom and the lower portion of the seat back. The lumbar area basically.

OK here is the passenger side of my 2013, with heated and cooled sets. This is the back portion of the seat. Notice the black housing pointed downward? It is a discharge vent, when this seat is in AC mode, hot air is discharged out of that tube, into the back passenger area. It seems as though, at least on the 2013, that the upper portion sucks air away from the body!
BTW the air volume on both seat cushions, when seat ac is on, is very low.

Guys to open the back, one, there are 2 elastic bands on the skirt going under the seat....then two there is a plastic channel that goes across the bottom horizontally starting at either edge you can get it to unhook...then three the zippers are more apparant and mine were stiff enough to find that some needlenose pliers helped ...they unzip almost to the top and will reveal the contents of the back...
