Default Console types

I've heard the terms flow through, non flow through, and sport consoles bandied about, but I've been unable to find the real differences. Anyone care to chime in?

My 2016 didn't have a console. I assume that would be "flow through" And my 2018 has the console with the shifter.

Actually the top picture would be your non flow through console, and the second picture is the Sport flow through console since it has a shifter. The console without a shifter is just considered a flow through console.

By flow through, they are referring to the center flowing from the front to the rear. The center seat is a non flow through console because of the seat that fold into a console

As far as I know, all of the consoles on the crew cabs are flow through. (Not sure about the super cabs) And I believe that flow through is referring to the fact that they have ducts running through them for the A/C vents on the rear of the console for the rear seats. And as far as Sport, or non Sport consoles, the Sport console has the shifter mounted in it, and the non Sport has the column shifter.

I guess I learn something new every day. I assumed flow through meant it was open from driver to passenger.

Actually non-flow thru means console with no floor shifter and flow thru means with floor shifter. Without floor console refers to jumpseat/console combo...

I thought - at least in the XLT's, if you ordered the Sport package you got a console with a column shifter.

CORRECTION - I just went to Fords site & built one - the XLT sport has a console with a shifter.
So how do you get a console with a column shift?

It's the other way around, you get a floor shifter with the sport package.
