The transfer case is needed so it can be put into neutral. There is a section in the manual about this somewhere...

Default F150

9k miles on my 2017 Lariat. No weaknesses so far. And i say that coming from a string of nissan and toyotas. I am a 22R fan from way back. My last toyota, a 2011 tacoma just does not come close to the F150.

Mine is from KC. I think that might make a difference in the fit and finish..

I paid $41k for the 4x4 lariat 2.7... the biggest mistake you can making going F150 is paying too much!!!

My 2016 4x4 does not have a neutral position, that I am aware of. My 2004 Tacoma did, however.

It’s a secret handshake with the truck, see the photo:

Exclamation

The F150 has to be 4x4 to be used as a TOAD.

Ford listed every vehicle that could be used but the F150 it specifically said 4x4 beside it.

The new 3.5 ecos have no recurring problems. The early models had some issues that have been long resolved. I just traded my 15 3.5 eco in on 17 3.5 eco. I don't just like the motor, I think it is the best truck motor Ford has every built. This is my sixth F150 and by far the best.

Thanks for the education, I had no idea! I even read my manual, but must have skipped over this section, since I don't tow.

No problem, it’s just one of those bits I picked up at some point.

Well thank you. I certainly read right through this and let it slip right away.
Another one of those tricky little maneuvers, like resetting your throttle response.
