Back in the 90's I bought a brand new truck, even ordered it. I would always park far from everyone. At work I was at least two rows beyond where anyone else parked. One day the security guard was making his rounds in his vehicle. As he went down the aisle I was parked at he fell asleep and T boned the side of my truck. It was only 3 months old. The company paid for a new front fender and passenger side door, but It was never the same after that.

First month of owning our 2016 - parking on the car ferry is very tight, and sure enough we are directed to park beside an old Taurus full of people, kids and elderly. The elderly woman in the back literally shoved her door open and crashed it into the side of our truck, almost as if on purpose. The driver, her daughter apparently, looked over at us and shrugged. All the kids tumbled out and went up to the passenger decks, off to get more sugary treats I suppose...

I've had my truck for one year now and not a single door ding. What helps is the 6"wide nerf bars. They offer pretty good protection from spray on side of truck, door dings, and look good to me.

I park my truck at home & walk everywhere to avoid door dings.

Florida parking spaces seem to all be HUGE coming from California. It's the wild wild redneck big truck south I guess.

I live in Southwest Virginia. Coal Country. Living here means it is just a matter of time until a coal truck pelts rocks and chunks of coal at your vehicle. Even if you are not behind a slow moving coal truck, one can pass you in the oncoming lane and sandblast you. It sucks. My truck was maybe 3 weeks old when I got the first chip in the front hood. I am sure there are many more now.

I've got these clear door edge protectors on the 150, they came with the truck. I'd have never bought them otherwise. Why do they even have something like this? If the butt plug would jam his door into your vehicle, he deserves a ding on his. Or worse, my imagination is working here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
