Default Compare my 2016 Platinum to my 2011 Lariat

So I just bought a Magnetic 2016 F150 Platinum SuperCrew EB, 3.55 locker, 36 gal tank, tow package, FX-Off Road package, 5.5 Bed, I think it has all options.

I had a 2011 F150 Lariat SC, EB, 3.73, 5.5 bed, max tow, 26 gal tank, loaded.

The 2011 appears to have been around 5800 lbs.
The 2016 appears to be at 4800 lbs.
Going by the door sticker - could that be correct?

The 2011 felt quicker to me. The 2011 EB engine more powerful to me. I tried a WOT pass on the highway and was not impressed with the new one. The 2011 felt so much quicker to me.

The 2016 in Sport mode feels slightly more comparable. But I would think that at around 1000 lbs lighter it should feel *much* different - quicker, lighter etc.

Its definitely more quiet by far. The 16 handles bumps better. I only have 1200 miles on the 2016 so maybe the engine is still tight... Not sure.

I really like all the LEDs on this new truck! Finally some F150 headlights that actually work!!

Mileage is up in all around driving by about 1.5 gals so far. But highway seems a little lower than the 2011 so far.

3.73 vs 3.55 enough said
3.73 is way snappier .

3.55 will be a bit better on highway. 3.73 better in city .

How are you arriving at 4800 lb? GVWR-Payload should give you the weight.

If you're looking in the book, that is for a base truck, no options.

My 2011 weighed 5795 lb, my 2015 weighed 5182 lb (both XLT SCrews).

No way in hell is a loaded platinum screw 4800 lbs. Your truck is probably about 5300 I would bet. Maybe your 2011 was a factory freak and your 2016 is a dog? Because the magazine road tests 0-60 times usually have the 2015 ecos at sub 6 sec.

You should be able to look up the shipping weight for your VIN. I'm sure it's higher than 4800. Not that it adds much, but you have the bigger fuel tank. Gasoline is weighs 6lbs per gallon.

But in the end, I would imagine it's the difference between the 3.55 and the 3.75 gears like Hooligan said.

Just looked up the VIN and found my 145" WB Platinum for me is 4848 lbs.
I've been on the scales with my 2011 with me in it and 1/2 tank and it was 3 tons = 6K.
Curb Weight - Front 2898 lbs 2795.0 min 3075.0 max
Curb Weight - Rear 1950 lbs 1914.0 min 2161.0 max
2898 + 1950 = 4848
Did I get that wrong? If so, please correct me.

The difference between a 3.73 and 3.55 is very small. What I feel is far beyond that difference.

My 2011 Eco SCrew with 3.55's was a rocket ship. Way way faster than the 2013 eco with the same 3.55 gears I replaced the 2011 with. This truck was perfect, with one exception, **** poor A/C. So I dumped it for the 2013, which cooled marginally better.

I really think Ford cut the nuts off the 3.5 eco trucks sometime around 2012. The condensate issues in the intercooler must have forced them to tune around it in my opinion.

And my father-in-law has a 2015 supercrew 4x4 3.5 Eco with 3.31's, it is even more lethargic than my 2013 was in my humble opinion. Really weird, considering the 600 to 700 pound weight savings compared to any last gen Eco.

i have a 2015 5.0 3.55
same lift, tires tune intake same box and cab length as my 2014. but my 14 has 3.73 gears

and my 14 would blow it out of the water .
it makes more of an issue than you'd expect from the small gear diff.

Look at your door jamb sticker to give you a more accurate estimate. It should have numbers for GVWR and payload capacity.

Example:
6800 lb GVWR
1500 lb payload capacity

= your truck is around 5300 lbs
