Default Clunking in transmission downshift

When the truck downshifts into gear 4 or 3 it often has a clunking sound. Not all the time but frequently. Has anyone else had experience with this?

My 2019 would clunk in 4-3 and other times before they did the valve body replacement. I now have erratic and rough downshifting mostly 4-3 and mostly in tow/haul or sport. Normal mode acts pretty normal (I think). They are opening up my transmission on Monday. Hopefully you are under warranty? I would suggest going through the dealership and continuing to go back until they fix the issue. My truck is going in for the 4th time on transmission concerns. I have only owned the truck since July 22. Bought it with about 45k miles. I've put 6k on it myself. If you are out of warranty? Many people will tell you to tune it. I definitely would have done that by now if I was out of power train warranty. I love my truck besides the transmission but Its been a pretty awful experience in that regard so far. Good luck with it. If it's doing that I would start to worry you will see other issues soon as I did.

Sorry I was such a doomsdayer there. Maybe just resetting the adaptive tables will fix the issue? It's definitely worth a try. The dealership will do that for you or you can do it with forscan. There is tons of information out there about resetting the adaptive tables on these trucks. Good luck

Update on this issue. Took it to dealer. They found tsb 22-2139 which seems to be Ford service advisory for problem. They first re programmed solenoid ID strategy, but that did not fix it. So then they ended up overhauling main control, and found irregular wear on sperator plate and channel plate so replaced them. Now downshifts smooth as silk, in fact cannot detect it is downshifting through the sequence of gears that was problem unless you are looking at the dash and see the indicator move through the gears. All covered under warranty.
