Chevy a little late

I've actually looked at the new chevy's and GMC's. Considered buying one, still on the fence, but with a baby on the way, a 2 door Jeep will be horrible and I need to do something.
This is my opinion of course, but I view it like this, GM does what they can to maintain course. They don't change much, they don't deviate much. 5.3? They've had the same displacement for how many years now? Before that it was the 5.7 for years. Even though things change on the engine, they do what they can to maintain the familiarity. Steel body? It took Ford blowing them out the water with sales of their aluminum body to make them even consider doing something different, then of course those stupid commercials GM put out preying on the people who haven't made up their mind about aluminum-bodied pickups. Even the design hasn't changed a whole lot, the current gen looks awfully similar to the early 2000 models. Just more squared off. That's why Chevy is having to do a mid-cycle facelift on the 1500's for 2016, not enough of a change and people were complaining (at least that's what I've read), and Ford's sales of course.
Ford is not afraid to take chances, they make calculated moves and most of the time they seem to pay off. Evident with the ecoboost. It continues today with the 2.7 EB partly made out of Compacted graphite like the 6.7 diesel. Aluminum bodies, off-road editions (raptor), technology only seen in cars up too this point. It's a hell of a time to be in the market for a new truck.
the recent recalls on the RAM Pickups may slow them down. I'm not a big fan of their trucks. Perfect example of that. I'm getting out of a Fiat/Chrysler product (Jeep) and haven't/won't consider even looking at their trucks. Just an opinion of course, I know people that have them and love them.
Essay over, sorry for the long post. I'm passionate about this stuff, maybe a little to much. Haha

Not sure if you 15'ers have seen this, but Chevy has been bashing Ford about the use of Aluminum.. Well, they should be taking those commercials off soon..

They are light years behind in the tech game. They still use PUSHRODS for god's sake in their engines. Unless you're building a drag race car, leave the pushrods at home.....much more efficient overhead cam, direct injection, forced induction designs rule the modern world of fuel economy & power. Oh wait....GM can deactivate 4 cylinders....that technology was proven NOT to work worth a crap (ask RAM) but GM is still using it. That Bear commercial is rediculous, if my truck ever gets attacked by a grizzly then maybe GM might have something.....funny how the 2015 F150 was rated HIGHER than GM 1500 in all crash tests, don't see that in the commercials.....GM is pathetic, behind the times & overpriced for their OUTDATED "technology".

The Chevy 5.3 beat the snot out of the Ford 4.6 and 5.4's for years. The EB has a torque advantage over the 5.3 but hopefully the turbos last. Sometimes simplicity wins, sometimes complicated technology wins.

always laugh when I read this. Cylinder de-activation isn't exactly simple tech.

^ True, my Silverado has cylinder deactivation and seems to burn a bit of oil.
