Dumbest marketing move GM ever did. All manufacturers are moving towards using more aluminum and alternatives to save weight for fuel efficiency.

What is GM going to say when they start using aluminum. "Our aluminum made sierra is somehow better."

How is it stupid? There's plenty of people who think that steel is better, or that aluminum is inferior (as their marketing research shows) so they're going to service that audience.

This just in, marketing isn't always fact-based and logical...

I agree. Most people probably don't realize how strong aluminum is. I'm sure lots of people don't even know that the vehicles in war zones such as Iraq are retrofitted with aluminum to protect against IED's.

Which is why this is actually ingenius marketing with comedy.
Preying on ignorance is smart from a business marketing standpoint

You can not deny people will buy into this out of pure ignorance.....
Most people still see aluminum as weak

GM is a follower, Ford is the leader......so creative marketing has to work, and does
