Thumbs up Cheap and easy front camera or parking sensors aftermarket solution

Guys,

I'm sure everyone without the 360 degree camera package would love to have a front camera or parking sensors or both. But most of us don't want to take the time/expense of adding the factory system. But it would be nice to know when pulling in to a parking spot, garage, or other place where it would be nice to know how close your front end is to something.

There has to be some people out there that are using an aftermarket solution that works well for them. Please share your solution and specific product info and cost. A link would be great as well. Thanks all!

One of the forum members installed a Rostra sensor kit in his truck.

One of many reasons why I like parking my van. Being the "nice guy" I try to park within the lines in a lot. Unlike the jerk I saw the other day that had four spaces taken up with his great parking job. Sad: My truck does not have it.

There was no way I was going to drill holes in my KR chrome bumper, so I just went cheap & easy:

I paid $38 on Amazon (must have been on sale, since now it`s $39.99). It works great & is not a permanent part of the truck. It works with a lighted switch that plugs into a 12v outlet. The only problem with mine is that the monitor view is reversed right to left.

That is interesting. Where did you place the monitor?

@kenv47 Good point, never thought of that. But yes, using a backup camera as a front camera the video image would be reversed.

Think, think, think, still thinking. Nope, I give up. Why would the video be reversed?

Is this job doable for someone who has little to know experience working on their own vehicle?
