Default Changing visors to get Homelink

I have the visors. I have the wiring harness. I have them installed, but I have a question before hooking up the wires.

Does either the mirror light or Homelink care about polarity? I would hate to wire them with reverse polarity and have to re-do it. AND, is 22g wire heavy enough to run from the overhead console to the visors or do I need 18g?

22ga is enough. There will be so little power going that 18 would be overkill.

I have homelink in my Lariat and it's worthless... The range is terrible and I don't use it.

I would not waist your money on it.

You do realize there was an issue with poor Homelink range on some early 2015 visors. There was an SSM that stated to replace the visor if the issue couldn't be resolved.

My Homelink visor works great.

Since I just bought it new from Tasca, I hope it is not short range. I have everything physically installed, and am just waiting to learn if the units are polarity sensitive. While I was at it, I went ahead and used 18g wire. I have them marked so I can get the same polarity on both visors, if I find out what polarity that needs to be. If it even matters.

That's great... If I am ever at the dealer I might have them replace it. Not sure if it's worth fighting with the ford to get it replaced. The dealer likes to play stupid on stuff like this.

Right now I'm good with my door clicker.

OK, wiring is complete. Homelink is programmed, and working the garage door.

I am glad I went ahead with 18g wire. I had 22g-18g butt connectors. Having the 22g factory wire twisted in with the 18g wire from the visors made a relatively large wire bundle for the butt connector to grab, but still went in to the connectors easily.

Life is good.

My driveway is 170' long (measured). My (brand spanking new) Homelink works from the street.
