Default Center headrest on regular cab removal...

I would like to remove the center headrest on my truck. It blocks the lower cup holders and also partially blocks my view out the rear window. I see a button on the left side of it but when I push it and try to raise the headrest nothing happens. The owner's manual says it's not adjustable or removable so then why is the button there? If anyone with a regular cab has any insight on this please let me know....

There is a button on both posts that is very hard to see and get to. I tried and tried for like 15 mins and then finally saw the other button on the post and came right off.

There is no button on the passenger side-only on the driver's side. I just spent 10 minutes out there prying it up with a big screw driver and a flashlight and there's only one button.

It should be noted the other button is also facing the drivers side. For symmetry, you'd expect them to both be facing away from each other. They are not. Both the buttons are facing the drivers side.

Lol, don't feel bad, I messed with mine for awhile also. Wonder what the logic is to make it a pain to remove?

Thanks to you and Terfos. That was the tip I was looking for. It was a PITA getting my finger on the one on the right side but I felt it release while pushing it and lifting the headrest up with the other hand so when I pushed the left button it popped off....

I had to have another person help me get the dam thing out of there. One guy on onside, and the other on the other side, both push buttons and both pull it up.

You're welcome....and I bet if you put that headrest back on....you won't lower it all the way to the seat like the factor does. Just leaving it up 1/2" would make the process quite easy.

Lawyers - Ford doesn't want any liability in case someone removes the headrests and a passenger is subsequently injured and tries to sue. Thus, "they are not removable".
