Having a catch can on both of my blower cars helps keep the intercooler clean, a $ 55 insurance policy.
.

After reading numerous threads on the S197 site regarding how much oil film was on the NA 5.0 intakes, putting one on my 17 F150 was a no brainer.
I am amazed @ how much fluid these NA motors generate.
Anything I can keep out of my intake is a + in my book.

5.0 truck and Track Key Mustang guy here.
Ford Racing recommends a catch can on their N/A performance vehicles to prevent the octane degradation that (can) occur.
Ford Racing sells them.
They work.
They aren't required for normal use and are an added expense and another item that wouldn not get maintained by the vast majority of vehicle owners.
Remember we live in an age of no service transmissions and differentials.
If the next Gen GT500 has a power adder I would bet it has catch cans

IT's been what, 8 years since the EB first hit the market, right? If this "oil" issue were such as the Chicken Littles claim, there would be plenty of evidence by now, yet there is practically NONE. Granted the early years the Intercoolers did have issues, but there is no hard evidence stating a Catch Can solved the issue, drilling a weep hole did though.

There are well over a million 3.5 EB out there, and now there is the 1.0, 2.0 and 2.7 EB as well. If you do a search for Ecoboost issues, you will find practically the same story being told on several sites, and nothing hard to go on to see if there actually is an issue.

Default Just bought a 08 expedition el

I installed a oil catch can on both sides of my 13 mustang gt/cs with the moon roof and every 3-500 miles have 10% of a water bottle filled with oil as well. Planing on doing the same to my New 08 expedition this coming weekend. Unless you have done this dont knock people who have stories or pics of actually doing so lossers.

Calling people losers in your first post and spelling it wrong to boot, that takes ***** and ignorance at the same time.

He needs a little bit of slack though.
He dug up a 3 year old thread instead of the 3 week old one. People in this thread may not be around too much anymore.

I'm glad the catch can helped the sunroof though.

Awesome, your moon roof catches oil in the catch can! Maybe I will install one on my Flex, but that may make me a losser?

Default catch can

It just seems with the building up on valves and also if oil/fuel/condensation is able to be pulled up through the PCM vacuum and make it's way back into the engine it is not a good thing. And this would of course become a problem down the line which would be out of warranty.

It makes you wonder if automobile manufacturer's possibly are making the cars to not go long term, or we just have us consumers concerned over nothing. Also of course after market companies want to skew the truth to sell their products as well.....

The catch can is one of those debates, and I can't figure out which way to go. I'm thinking just buy an extended warranty and that is the best route.
I trust them, lifetime oil?

Ford then changed the 2nd gen ecoboost do direct port injection so that gas would spray onto the intake valves to keep them clean.....why do you think tbey would do this .... because they were having problems with intakes and dirty valves. Maybe not as big of deal on 16s or 17s whenever they came out with the 2nd gen.. tells me that they changed it because of engine sludge ... keep dumping that **** inn your intake over time it will gum **** up i promise. Use a catch can thank me later.
