Catch can 5.0?

I don't think they are needed on port injection engines but couldn't hurt. Even if they did help, manufacturers would never ever ever install them for two reasons. #1 - what customer in their right mind wants a can that they have to periodically empty. #2 - even if said customer doesn't mind emptying the can how do they dispose of the contents in an environmentally friendly way? It's just another EPA nightmare that nobody has to deal with if said contents are "burned" instead of caught.
I have no idea what I'm talking about but if *I* had a pre-2018 ecoboost without the additional port injectors I would probably install one, The 5.0 I'm going to purchase will not get one.

If thats your argument, it sounds like manufacturers need to get rid of motor oil. What customer in their right mind wants to empty 5 quarts of oil every 10,000 miles? And how would oil (5 quarts compared to a few tablespoons from a catch can) be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way?

There are several threads on this site discussing catch cans, use the search.
Also, there is a lot of information about them on other sites. ( S197, SVTP )
Based on my reading, boosted engines need / would benefit from them more than N/A engines..................except the 5.0.
This engine seems to generate lots through it's PCV tubing. Owners found this out when they replaced their intake manifolds when modding.
.................I don't care if people use them or not.
I have had them on 2 boosted engines, & have one on my 17 5.0 F150.

I put one on my 2017 5.0, it has been on there for around 1000 miles or so, and I have emptied a good amount of oil out of it. I have added them to all of my past 5L motors and they have collected quite a bit of oil before each empty. It definitely can’t hurt the engine, by having one.
