Default Carpet Dashboard Cover

I have some unsightly scratches on my dash above the glove box area. Other than spending several hundreds dollars replacing the entire dash (since it's one piece), I was looking at other options. I came across carpet dashboard covers. Very inexpensive but would cover up those scratches nicely and evidently has other benefits.

Does anyone out there have a carpet dashboard cover and if so can you provide pictures as well as comments on what you like/dislike?

Where we live, this is practically a necessity! I'll take a pic tomorrow and post, (I'm using a dashmat for our dashboard cover). All of our vehicles have had dashboard covers. Just too friggin' hot here not to have 'em. Plus, they protect the dash from the Sun damage.

I just received mine today and am flattening it out inside for a few days first. I got it to cover up the warmed dash issue that many of t he newer trucks have.

I've had them in the past and liked them. They protect the dash from the sun, and cover up any issues like cracks/damage/fading etc. The two things I don't like about them are:

1) bugs, here in Nebraska I end up with flies/mosquitoes/gnats in the thing and have to vacuum or wash it once and a while. Minor gripe but it's harder than just wiping off a dash a few times a year.

2) If you like driving with your windows down, make darn sure it is fastened well otherwise it could blow out. Never lost one but had mine flapping in the wind more than once and it's not a good feeling.

This is the one I just got. I noticed a blue one later that I would have rather had but I already bought this one.

Understand the need (covering up scratches), but to me that looks horrible (but then again, I'm not buying it).

Can't you find something like that but it's not made out of carpet?

They have other material available than carpet. It would be nice if they had stamped dashboard covers (like weathertechs) that fit snug on top made out of a felt like material. Heck maybe they do?

If you would like to get some interior damage repaired, there are companies that do this. Locally, there is a company named Fibrenew. They are mobile, will come to your work or home. While their prices are not cheap, neither are their results. They are significantly less expensive than replacement parts. While you are doing your homework, it may be worth an internet search and perhaps a phone call or email.

Good of luck either way you go.

I have had a Dash Mat brand in one of my trucks for several years. I like that I can put things on it and they don't slide around.
