Candidate for stupidest person on this forum
I have a candidate for the stupidest person on this forum. I'll tell the story, then you can vote.
Several months back, I replaced my 17 XLT standard mirrors w/BLIS, puddle lights, etc with a set of Trail Ridge tow mirrors from 1AAUTO. The kit came with some extra wiring to hook up puddle lights, spot lights and marker lights. My previous mirrors had puddle lights and spot lights, so they worked right out of the box. Since it was winter and COLD (for Memphis) outside, I figured I would wait for warm weather to disassemble the door to install the wires for the marker lights.
Today, it was 45F, raining and the wife was out and about somewhere, so I figured today was a good day to work in the garage. I downloaded the 1AAUTO video (good video) and watched a piece of it, then went outside and did that task. I got the door panel off. I got the wiring harness disconnected from the truck door jamb and pulled out of the door. I disconnected the brown w/white stripe wire and hooked their orange wire to it. I ran the wire down the wiring harness. I pulled the wire through the rubber boots to the connector. I went to plug the wire into the connector, but there was a blue w/white stripe wire there! WHAT? Both the instruction sheet and the video clearly showed the wire has to go THERE! It was an absolute FACT that 1AAUTO had messed me over!
I sat there fuming. How could they do that to me? I sat there a few minutes, then started thinking. (I know, a little late.) I thought "no, there's no way." I pulled the mirror connector out where I could see it. The brown w/white stripe wire for the mirror marker lights plugged into the top left slot. The top left slot of the door harness had a, you guessed it, blue wire w/white stripe! I reached over and turned the headlights on, then walked around to the other side of the truck and looked at the mirror's marker lights. THEY WERE ON!
I was an IDIOT! I figured (here is where thinking would have been good) that since my non-tow mirrors didn't have marker lights, the door harness didn't have the wire for marker lights. Why else would 1AAUTO include the wiring at no charge?
If I had just CHECKED THE MARKER LIGHTS before starting, I would have saved myself about 2 hours of work.
The tow mirrors had friggin' marker lights working from day ONE!
sigh
Go ahead and kick me.

You good man! I'm sure we all screw up. I traded a 2017 for a 2018. Took my wheel liners off the 2017 and they wouldn't fit on the 2018. Tried like hell to get them to fit. Got mad and shot them out and ordered new ones... well today i put the new ones on... First thing I see on the directions is left and right sided liners!!!! Im a f#*King idiot who just blew a 100 bucks on new ones! Cheers!

I do something stooooopider than that every single day. It's all good. This is how we learn ( or don't) from our mistakes!
