Default camper killed my ecoboost

I just towed my 5000lb camper 90 miles in my 3.5 ecoboost with 9000 miles. When I would take off the transmission would make a single popping noise. I unhooked the camper and drove into town. Now when I cruise the transmission makes a rattling noise until I let off or give it enough gas to downshift. When I come to a stop it makes a clunking noise. The hottest the Trans got while towing was 208 with a ambient air temp of 92. I have a bigger tires 305/65/18 and a leveling kit. Will the dealer tell me my warranty is voided? I believe the tires are equivalent to 33's. Thanks.

If your tires are taller than stock then yes they will likely use that against you. They will say that the added strain of the larger tires on the drive train caused the problem.

I don't think the tires can be blamed for a bad tranny. I don't think you willhave any issues. That sure is strange that a 5K camper would cause the transmission to take a.... I would just tell them this happened while pulling a 5K camper and leave it at that. Did you have it in tow haul mode?

If you're worried about the warranty being voided, it's as simple as putting the stockers back on before taking it into the dealer..

You have the elite motor Ford sells for their F150. I find it nearly impossible they could say 33" tires would void your warranty. If I remember correctly they have to prove an exact correlation that the part you put on caused the failure. So to say tires caused the failure is crazy. I understand you concern I would probably be a little concerned also. I can't say for sure but I was a service writer and I don't remember hassling anyone over tire size.

Hopefully it's something simple. My dad just made a 4K round trip pulling his 28' camper in his Ecoboost with no problems.

HA, no your tires are not going to void your powertrain warranty

Put your stock tires back on and stop posting on a public forum.

Sounds like you should have said"Eco Boost and 5,000 lb. camper kills transmission] not Camper killed my Eco Boost!!!These are pretty tough 6 speed transmissions in these trucks so i guess you get a bad egg every now and then.It sucks but that's what the Warranty is for i guess!!!!!
