Default Camera thingy in rear view mirror mount

What is the thing in the rear view mirror mount that looks like a forward facing camera? I don't have 360 view, parking assist, or adaptive cruise control, which might explain it. Based on my signature, what is it?
Thanks,
Mike Todd

Part of the lane keeping system. Should have button in center console below the shifter that activates it

I don't have that button. I also don't have the tech package, in case that's part of it.
But thanks,

It is the auto-dim feature. When night, bright headlights from the rear of you hit the spot on the mirror and the mirror auto-dims.

How does what looks like "a forward facing camera" get hit by "bright headlights from the rear of you"?

I saw mention of an auto dim feature for the headlights when I was reading the manual of my new truck.

The auto-dim feature kicks in when the mirror is hit with lights from the rear, with a rear-facing sensor. I believe the OP has found the sensor that turns the headlights from high beams to low beams for oncoming traffic, "Auto High Beams". https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/vehic...igh-beams.html

At this point most people have a phone capable of taking a picture. If none of these answers help you, please just take a picture and spend the 30 seconds to upload it and then we can knock it out in one shot. "Camera Thingy" is just going to lead to a drawn out thread of guessing.
