Thank you for your service!

I change them about once a year. I normally wait until pollen season is over in the spring, but this year I'm running late. I took delivery of it in July 2015, and it has 110K miles on it now.

Default F150 Lariat FX4 Cabin air filter. How to remove extra wood, carbon fiber trim

See
for the full procedure. Here is back side of wood/fiber carbon trim on high-end trucks

This trim tool is perfect to remove.

Slide tool under the bottom far left, then far right and with thumb on plastic pull back to remove each of the two bottom clips. This should now give you room to get fingers from both hands underneath to disengage three top clips. Yes it seems like something will break.

also high-end trim will have this decelerator gismo. grasp it on this side and close the door to remove pin

inside door pin of decelerator. Pin can be pulled through larger hole to disengage. so can open door and access filter.

I actually used the same style tool and can say that the carbon fiber is stronger than the very thin wood veneer. As soon as I started trying to pop it loose a chip came out of the wood. Fortunately a little black sharpie hid it enough since it was right where the rubber tray hid most of it.

FP92 is replacing FP79. I hear they are possibly lighter/thinner than the old part.
