Same here. A HEPA filter seemed like a good idea until I noticed the reduced airflow.

My 2019 has a door switch and light in the upper left corner.

I also have the damper. It was pretty obvious how to disconnect it from the box. The only issue I had was one door rubber bumper and one retaining latch rubber bumper (like an o-ring) were both installed without fully engaging the notch that was supposed to hold them in place and fell out when I was fooling with the box. I reinstalled them both correctly and no more issues.

I took the glovebox apart, figuring that I could at least replace the cabin filter while I was in there. I removed the top bar (w/ the switch) and saw that there was one tiny LED in the upper left corner of the box. It's rather like lighting a candle in one corner of your bedroom and being surprised that you can't see in the closet around the corner. I'm thinking that a LED strip glued to the underside of the top bar would illuminate the shelf where the owner's manual resides and the interior of the glovebox.

One other issue is, the light doesn't seem to be in if the ignition or the lights are off. I could get it to turn on when i turned the lights to on, but w/ the doors open, nada.

Default Cabin Air Filter

What a bunch of azzhats at Ford design. Honestly I think they're sociopaths. I just replaced my air filter and just a dumb procedure. You can't kneel down without pressing the power seat button. And the stupid glove box damper fell off and took me 20 minutes to find the gear. And whoever invented the "pull this clip until it sounds like it broke" plastic push clips is an even bigger jack hole. I'm getting too old for this excrement!! Next time I'll pay someone.

I watched a "how to" video on youtube and it was easy. It only took about 15 minutes but without the video it would taken longer and I probably would have screwed something up?

I have to agree. I've done it a few times and it is a pain compared to my VW.

Worst part is having to clean all the junk out of my glovebox before getting started.

One of the very few occasions where having scrawny arms works to my advantage...
