Cabin Air Filter
Same with mine. I found that you have to push the tool in deep before wiggling it or anything. You have to get it in at least an inch or the edge will chip, especially if you twist the tool any little bit. The flat pointed tool worked best.
I noticed the other day that it looks like my glove box door has bowed out at the middle. Of course, no longer under warranty.

Can't speak to the UAC Filter, but I have installed several of the TYC brand over the last few years. I think they're more effective than the FoMoCo/Wix cabin air filters.
I generally replace the cabin air filter semi-annually.

The cabin filter thread from yesterday has a few indications of people using TYC because it's cheap. Nobody had much to say about quality of any filter. Just that they rather pay less for the filter.
By the time you pay shipping, you would have been better off buying OEM.
That said, people said this one was pretty decent but I personally have not purchased.
edit: oh I see there's a TYC. They make decent filters imo.

One thing about the CAF is if you buy a cheap one and it doesn't work as well as hoped it's not going have any effect on the longevity, performance or anything else in regards to the truck.
Might let a few dust particles past, plug quicker etc. but it can't really hurt anything.

I went the other direction, and for a couple bucks more than the cheapest Motorcraft filter that advertises removing 90% of particulates (which in air filter terms is not impressive at all), I got a Bosch HEPA filter that removes 99+%.
