Cabin Air Filter
When i first got my truck home i snooped around it including the glove box.
Don't remember how it happened but when i started to monkey around with the glove box that whole dam damper mechanism flew apart.
Took a few minutes but eventually figured out how to get it all back together again.
Hopefully your thread will help others to prevent or fix this if it happens.

I'll let you know when I change mine in a week or so. Worst case it doesn't soften the lowering which will affect me once a year when I put the registration receipt in there.
I think the smell comes from running the AC on recirculate. If you run it on fresh air afterwards to air it out, no problem. But if you have it on recirc and turn the car off and let it cook in the sun, it's going to stink. That's been my observation anyway, and my car never stinks.
*UPDATE*
No smell in the A/C now. One item of note. I believe this year I was doing something different than the past two years.
I used to always turn over to Max AC till the truck cooled down, then dial down the fan and temperature. When you dial down the temp after being on max AC, it automatically turns the re-circulation off. This year I was just turning the AC on high (but not Max) with the re-circulation on and then turning down the fan and temp which leaves the re-circulation on.
I'm thinking I may have been contributing to my own problem when turning down the temp, but leaving the re-circulation on. Note to self, don't use re-circulation unless AC is on Max.

Also want to check the drain to see if it has crap in it but have no idea how to.
I'm a little lost on what you're saying, but I have the same issue. Definitely seemed to pop up when temps started to climb with more rain. I even started a thread on it. I rarely use the max button unless I really need it. I've also heard of others turning off air when close to home and I get the theory. My concern is whatever is on there mold/mildew wise isn't just going to go away if I change my AC habits is it

I am 57 years old and have had lots of vehicles. I have never had another vehicle with a musty smell to it and have never gone through any of the steps you are using. I have no idea what it is but something about this truck stinks, literally.
Take 30 years off to get my age but I agree. This is my 5th vehicle and never had this issue. While the logic makes sense on why it would smell, its still very frustrating to me.
