Just did mine tonight. Followed that YT vid from post #4 above. Easy Peasy. Took all but 10 minutes.

Used 2016 XLT I bought 10 days ago. About 62K miles. Not sure the cabin filter was ever replaced, but regardless, it was D I R T Y. P/N on it was FL3H-19N619-AC. Was literally black lol. Put in a Fram CF12150 as I wanted odor absorption, not just pollen. Previous owner must have had a dog. :-/

I think they must be a carbon filter or something - I just had mine out, there was almost nothing in it. I blew it out both ways & nothing came out - but it was uniformly black. Every pleat, top to bottom was the same shade of black.

Some filters do, but the FL3H-19N619-AC when new, is pure white.

Thank you for this. Mine was pretty filthy from trail riding. It took 10 minutes following along with the YouTube video, and most importantly, the musty smell is gone! Awesome.

I need to look at my 2016 with 25k miles. Hoping changing it will clear up the nasty musty odor that has recently started. If that doesn't clear it up I guess I'll have to start looking for signs of a water leak.

It's probably a good chance it's the air filter. Though if the musty smell is there in your truck all the time even with the A.C. off, then maybe not. Mine smelled as soon as I turned the A.C. on and it blew the musty smell into the cab, so figured that was it. Sure enough, with the new filter the smell is completely gone.

Default Freaking pissed off now...

...thanks to the YouTube videos changing the cabin air filter was a breeze, well until the end. Somewhere on the forum is a TSB for glove boxes not being aligned properly. Mine was great before the filter change, now after the change mine is not aligned right. This is going to bug the crap out of me.

Yeah mine did the same thing. The back part of the box scapes the trey that you remove on mine now. Not too bad but still. Wonder if theres a way to fix it.

With every car I've owned that has an in-cabin filter I always think I should replace it...and then I forget and never do it.

I love Harbor Freight, you just have to know what you're buying. There's a few things there I wouldn't buy, but most of their stuff is pretty good. But you can get those trim tools for less than $9... six bucks with this coupon (good until July 1st). Just screenshot with your phone, or give them the coupon code "40309075". Very easy to use. For a ****-ton of all the latest Harbor Freight coupons and other "free item" coupons, check out this site. This site is not part of HF, but has all the best coupons posted there. I've been using it for years... love it.

And they'll let you stack coupons too, so you can "double down" and use this one, for some FREE microfiber cloths (coupon code 56116958, good until August 5th)... so for six bucks, you get the trim tools AND a pack of cloths.
