Just changed mine on my Lariat at 35k - just about the right time looking at the filter. It didn't go too badly after watching a few youtube videos. My plastic trim tools were priceless. Second time around I estimate a 10 minute job.

What snagged me up at first was pulling the black box off above the glove box that has 2 7mm screws at the top. I hate pulling hard on this plastic stuff. So I reviewed a couple videos and saw where the clips on the sides were. Then it was easy as I knew where to pry.

This was one of those times where a $9 investment years ago at Harbor Freight paid off for me.

Harbor Freight to the rescue once again.
I hope they never go out of business like Radio Shack!

Default cabin air filter replacement

Has anyone done this? I can't figure it out without taking the entire dash out. It's behind the glove box, and I can partially see it when lowering the glove box drawer, but can't see how to remove the cover. The dealer said that the entire unit had to come out, meaning the tray above the box, and then the whole assembly. Is there another way to do this? Nothing surprises me with ford when it comes to making things as complicated as possible.

It's easy. "Dealer says....." haha. That's how they try to justify charging you an arm and a leg for a simple filter change.

It’s a lousy job to do but it can be done. Be patient and watch the video.

Yeah, I wasn't going to have them do it. But I was in there for the recall and asked him and he pulled up the procedure on the computer.

What a pain in the ***** this is. Never had one this hard to do. Last vehicle had a pop up door from the air intake by the windshield, super easy. Others have been accessible from simply lowering the glove box door. Thanks for posting the video at least.

In the video the two filter supports just below the filter medium are to prevent a "Wet filter" (if the this occurs) from being ingested into the blower assembly.

True, it is a bit of a pain. Just be thankful you don’t have to change one in a Fiesta ST. THAT is a nightmare (but it is such a fun little car and my wife loves it... so I put up with doing it).
