I'm using one, it works as well as the factory one, I clean it every 10k after the truck gets its oil change. I figure it is cheaper than the factory filters at $45 it doesn't take long to pay for itself, OH wait it has paid for itself, I have 46k on my truck and only bought 1 factory filter at like 8-9k for something like $25.
The link for the k&N http://www.autoanything.com/air-filt...in-air-filters
I also got the cleaner kit that was like $15 then http://www.autoanything.com/air-filt...-refresher-kit $17 now

To each their own I guess. I'd prefer to just get the Ford factory filter off of Amazon for just $19 versus fooling around with cleaning and spraying a reusable filter.

I agree! Plus the OEM paper filter media filters better than the K&N filter media!

I pulled mine for a cleaning today, It was extremely dirty and clogged w/ dog hair, Works much better than the paper elements(no dust or dirt on the outgoing side of the filter housing). I have come to the conclusion that I Think you smoked your lunch, there's no way that paper is better.

From the K&N website:

Paper Air Filters vs K&N Air Filters
To meet minimum filtration standards, paper air filters must be thick and/or the fibers must be tightly compressed and dense. Therefore paper elements that provide adequate filtration are more restrictive to air flow by design. Additionally, as a paper filter becomes more and more clogged, the pressure inside the filter drops while the atmospheric air pressure (approximately 14.7 psia at sea level) outside the filter remains the same. It's like using your lungs to draw the air out of a plastic milk bottle. When the pressure differential becomes too great, the bottle will collapse. The same thing could happen to your paper filter, although it is unlikely. But what will happen could be just as severe. An excessively high pressure differential created by a restricted filter can literally pull dirt particles through the paper medium.

What would you expect K&N to say? Yes, OEM paper filter manufacturers have to meet minimum filtration standards, that K&N filters don't meet. And this is the reason the filter media area is much larger than the K&N, so they aren't restrictive!!

Both of these photos were taken at the same magnification. The holes in the K&N filter media are huge compared to the paper filter media. Matter of fact, you can see sunlight through the K&N.

OEM paper filter media:

K&N filter media:

The area of the OEM paper filter is much, much larger than the K&N:

Question

I think I was a little tardy in replacing my filter 31,000 miles is obviously way to long.

I've seen some really stupid design work but this cabin filter gets my award for double stupid! This should be a 1 or 2 minute job to change a cabin air filter. My vette takes about 30 seconds because the access door is under the hood and easy to get to. Obviously there's a lot less room on a C6 vette then a Ford F150 but the design is good so it's fast to change unlike my 2017 F150.

I often wonder if these stupid designs are on purpose as it attempts to force owners to get it changed by your Ford dealer for $$$$$

No it's not a huge deal but the cabin filter should only take a couple of minutes to change IMO..............

Thanks for the video as it makes it clear how to get this done!

Here was mine at just over 20000 miles. Took all of 5 minutes to change and $17 from amazon. I may start changing it every 10000.
