Default Buying a used 2015 from Massachusetts??

Local SC dealer has a nice 2015 XLT Sport 3.5 eco.

It is pretty sharp but does have the expected surface rust underneath from being a Mass truck.

The price does reflect the fact it is a northern truck with some very minor rust.....$3500 less than comps.

They are offering to rust proof it and give me a deal on tires and leveling as well.

Think about it or run????

For 3500 off I would not be afraid of a little SURFACE rust. As long as that is all that it is. Should be able to clean that up pretty easily.

Its only a couple of years old. How bad can it be?

all vehicles from up north have some surface rust. but not on painted areas... if it has that then there is an issue. plus if its a m******* truck some lib probably had it so that lowers the value as well lol

Just make sure it's surface rust and not into any painted surfaces. I would think having the aluminum panels almost eliminate the potential for rusted out body parts. Just inspect the heck out of it especially underneath.

I believe aluminum body panels will really help raise resale value against GM, Ram and Toyota here in the Northeast. Rust is a HUGE problem around here and especially on fenders. tailgates and doors. Once it gets started it's almost impossible to completely get arrested. There are so many rotted out Rams around here it's a standing joke! Rust buckets especially around fenders, doors and tailgates.

It was a big factor for me in buying another Ford versus the competition.

no, quite the opposite. higher IQ driver equals higher resale value.

again, when u say surface rust, if its on paint, pass. there is an issue. liberals are lazy (pretty much all Mass is these days) and dont take care of things = they never washed salt off truck. surface rust on bumpers amd undercarriage = ok.

I just picked up a used certified pre-owned 2015 here in VT...
I'd likely pass (and did on my truck) on the undercoating, unless it's like krown or fluid-film type and not the thick stuff.

If it's a good deal, I say go for it. Would be nice to get a really good walk-through though... almost would have to face time with the sales person and have them show you everything you want to check out. Would have to arrange for purchase and find some issue when you get there.

Good luck and post pix!

I have a 2 YR old 2016 and live in MA and have only sacrificial rust on the raw components.
