Good news to round out this story. I just crawled under the truck and there is no damage. It's obviously built like a tank where the hitch ties into the frame. Say what you want about all the plastic and even aluminum on vehicles today, but a truck is still a truck.

You might want to give the hitch itself a good looking over. The first thing that'll happen if something that shouldn't get flexed gets flexed is that the powder coat will bubble or flake.

Also take a moment to look at the attachment points between the hitch and the frame rail.

I'm glad it was minor.
