Having said that the biggest piece of junk I've ever bought was that particular bug shield. On a 1-10, FOR ME it's a minus 5. I really believe that most others are far superior and considerably less expensive.
My experience has not been the same as yours. I have been well pleased with mine, I have had 2, one on a 2015 and another on my new 2017. Cost wise, if you shop around they are not that much more then the other types.

I took the advice from another member, Scott91370. I bought a clear one from Wade Platinum Bug Shield by Westin from autoanything.com for $55. No tape, no drilling, no clips and attaches from the underside of the hood with four metal screws into existing holes with a plastic or rubber like washer.

It's been on for a 2-3 months now and has held up very well. I don't have time to hand wash my truck so it gets ran through the same car wash many times per month. So it held up under the jet dryers blowing off excess water.
Do you have to permanently remove the weather stripping from under the hood on the ends to mount this one ?

I had an AVS on an 89' van. It still looked new 25yrs later.
Thats why I got another for my 15' F150.
Mine used existing under hood holes from the rubber seal. It came with plastic screws which were crap. I used metal screws instead.
My old one also used screws under the hood.

I just installed the AVS on my truck today. It's good to know that it's on there pretty good. I don't take the guards off when I trade trucks, so I just want it stuck. Hopefully it can withstand the Arizona summers.

I had a smoked plastic bug shield on my 05 SCrew and loved it. Some time after I had bought the truck--2 years, maybe--I began to notice a buzzing, vibrating sound that sounded and felt like it was coming from the cowl. I pulled parts, put foam tape behind them, applied silicone caulk to others, did everything I could to stop it, but anytime there was a cross-wind, I got this annoying buzz/vibration. Then, totally by chance one snowy morning, a big hunk of ice slid off the top of my truck and busted the bug shield half in two. Over the next few days, I realized that the buzz was gone. I removed the other half of the bug shield and vowed to never put another on. I never thought about the bug shield vibrating that hard--it certainly wasn't visible--to create that much noise in the cabin! No bug shields for me!

I just bought a AVS deflector for my 2018 and I am having a hard time keeping the little butterfly plugs in the gasket holes they keep popping out. Did you even use those or did you just use a washer and metal screws?
thanks

I have had two of the AVS deflectors. One on my ‘15 that I traded and one on my ‘18 that came off in pieces driving down the road at about 50 mph. I haven’t bought a replacement yet but they look nice. Just have to make sure installation is spot on.

I like the way the display shows it fitting flat. I am considering getting it match painted to the truck.

Anyone have one of these?? Ever painted one?? Looking for opinions.

Thanx, in advance.
I have an aeroskin on my Ingot silver. No need to paint it yourself, you can purchase it color matched to your truck. avs website lists the available colors. Armed with the item # i bought mine on Amazon.

I thought those were crap so never used them. I got my own screws and never had a problem.
