Default Brand New 2017 XLT rust on frame

So I purchased a brand new 2017 XLT Tuesday night after nearly a year of waiting and researching. Love the truck to death with many upgrades/mods in mind. Today I'm looking behind the driver's side wheel and see this on the frame...

Obviously this makes me angry/nervous. The truck was built in December and purchased February 28th. I'm in Texas so we've had no winter and zero salt.
I drove 45 minutes to the dealer and all they did was take a picture of it with their iPad and say that they'll send it off to Ford to see what they say. The only other information I got was that they had another one sort of similar and all Ford told them to do was wash the underneath of the truck with water... (that obviously sounds completely counter productive) Over all I was very unimpressed with the service department's lack of info/clarity unfortunately I was in a hurry and had to leave quickly. Anyone have any advice? Am I being paranoid? Or should I demand the dealer give me a replacement? Thoughts?

It looks like there are scratch marks like something rubbed it but I cant tell. I dont think its a big deal other then for cosmetic reasons, the surface rust will protect the metal underneath.

I'm just glad you didn't tell us how much you paid and expect more than this for what you paid. In all honestly it's not a big deal. It's surface rust. Scuff it up and throw some black paint on it. It's all ford will do.

Looks to me that something rubbed through the paint/protectant. I would be ok with the dealer just coating that spot with paint or whatever they use. But yes, it would bug me until it was covered.

Sand the rust off and spray black paint on it.

I agree with everyone else. Scuff it, paint it, forget about it. In fact, if you did nothing, that area of the frame will still outlast the length of time 99% of people would ever think of keeping a truck for anyway...we're talking decades.

Sand it down, clean it up, Rustoleum that sucker.

It did look something rubbed there. Maybe manufacturing error.

Mine has an identical love mark on it. Must be from a tool/hoist on the assembly line when handling the bare frame. Not loosing any sleep over it.

Now the lack of coating on the front cv axles and rear axle housing... That is obnoxious.
